Ant and Dec have been forced to apologise over offensive comments made during last night’s Bushtucker trial entitled ‘Space Your Fears’.
Radio DJ Iain Lee was the unlucky candidate voted for by viewers to carry out the trial, with many presuming he has been selected, due to an argument with firm-favourite Stanley Johnson.
Iain was expected to stand on a rocket called the Bush Blaster, which was suspended 100 feet in the air – and it was fairly evident early on that he wasn’t the biggest fan of heights.
Ant hilariously reminded the DJ: “Be very careful Iain, you’re a hundred feet up in the air.”
Fans of the show were loving watching the radio presenter squirm as he carried out the task, however, it wasn’t just the large drop below him which caused the nervous celebrity a few ‘private’ issues.
Iain confessed that the safety harness was giving him a great deal of pain down-below, telling Ant and Dec: “I tell you what, this doesn’t half chafe on my testicles.”
Before the challenge, viewers were left in stitches by Ant and Dec’s hilarious comments on the ‘terribly-named’ bushtucker trial, but the pair have since been forced to apologise to producers for their inappropriate behaviour.
Trying to introduce the trial, the pair laughed hysterically to the point where they were completely speechless, failing to give Iain the necessary instructions.
Puzzled by what he had to do, Dec simply told the radio DJ: “Go with me on this,”, before Ant quipped: “It’s 2017, we’re dry on ideas”, referring to the trial itself.
The pair made sly comments that the entire set looked cheap and cheerful, failing to act impressed: “So here it is, the best trial of I’m A Celebrity, already guaranteed a BAFTA, if not an Oscar!” Dec stated sarcastically.
However, their jokey tone soon changed when Ant and Dec returned after the advertisement break, confessing to viewers that they had been give a stern word by producers for their ‘rudeness’.
“Now, we’ve been a bit rude about the trial tonight and the producers had a little word with us during the ad break” Ant said. “So we won’t be doing any more of that”.
Dec also added: “We’re very sorry”.
Fans were also gobsmacked when Ant and Dec confessed to viewers that “another celebrity had left the jungle”, just minutes after the opening credits were shown.
‘We have big news today, another celebrity has left the jungle. He’s one of the biggest stars on our show” Dec declared.
The shocking news came after YouTuber Jack Maynard was axed from the show, when a number of offensive social media posts he had written went viral. In a series of tweets, Jack Maynard apologised to fans for his ‘stupid’ behaviour, while especially referring to a tweet he posted out in 2011.
In a statement, the 23-year-old wrote: “I was young, naive and stupid – but as I said previously, age is no excuse. My immaturity meant that I didn’t stop for a second to think whether these comments would hurt or harm anyone – something I have learnt is entirely wrong.
“If I had just thought for a moment, about how stupid they were, I would never have sent them. Nothing can justify the language I used, there is no defense – I am truly sorry. My childish attitude back then is not a representation of my thoughts and feelings now.”
“I take full responsibility and regret my mistakes. As an adult, I understand the effect my words have on people, whether I have a big or small platform to speak from.
“Again, I am so sorry to anyone I have offended or disappointed.”
On a much lighter note, if you did happen to watch last night’s episode, you’ll know that it wasn’t a celebrity campmate who had exited the jungle, but the legendary Kiosk Keith – and fans were gutted that he was nowhere to be seen.
You can breathe a sigh of relief to know that the miserable Aussie won’t be leaving our screens for too long – he’s just had a bit of bowel trouble (according to Ant and Dec) and should be back in the kiosk in no time – phew.
“Yes, unfortunately, Kiosk Keith has had to have a day off from the Outback Shack.” Ant stated.
‘He’s assured us he’ll be back very shortly as soon as he’s dealt with some complicated personal issues.” before Dec chipped in: “He’s got the thrupenny bits”.
However, fans weren’t loving Keith’s replacement, Kiosk Kath.
‘Kiosk Kath was just completely weird for me. We want Keith back!!’ an angry Tweeter posted.
‘Who is this imposter that is #KioskKath? I’m deff #KioskKeith all the way’. another agreed.
“What in the world, what’s happened to kiosk Keith?” one concerned Twitter user wrote.
“Where did Kiosk Keith go?!?!” another added.
Another devastated fan wrote: ‘@KioskKeith when are you back on #Imaceleb?? It’s not the same without you!’
However, some fans weren’t as sympathetic by Keith’s absence, with some claiming that he had simply ‘skived’ off work to avoid the torrential downpour that had hit the jungle.
Last night’s episode also saw campmate Rebekah Vardy talk about the hard-hitting topic of mental health, with the discussion turning to attempting suicide.
Rebekah bravely admitted to her campmates: “You draw from experience don’t you, I tried it when I was younger when I was 14.”
“Because when I was that age, it was something that was pushed under the carpet and it had such a bad effect on me. I made such horrific decisions in life, and I got to a point after I had my second child where it just hit me and it does because you can’t run from it forever and that is what I was doing.
I had CBT therapy which changes your brain’s thought process, I had counselling and I was on anti-depressants for a while and then all of a sudden things just started getting better… It is so different now.” she said.
Fans of the show praised I’m A Celebrity for airing the discussion to raise awareness of mental health issues.
