It’s been a long old year for Ant McPartlin and now that I’m A Celebrity has come to an end, fans are desperate to know when the presenter will be back in the public eye alongside his long-time professional partner, Declan Donnelly.
Over the past month, Holly Willoughby has stepped into Ant’s shoes to host the Australian-based reality programme and we weren’t exactly sure whether she would be able to do the role justice. We just love Ant and Dec’s ‘banterous’ on-screen partnership; however, it seems she has gone down a treat with viewers on the TV show.
Is Holly set to take Ant’s place on I’m A Celebrity?
Viewers loved Holly teaming up with Dec so much, that many believe ITV bosses could keep her on for another year to host the show in 2019.
Much to the dismay of many viewers though, Holly’s This Morning co-presenter, Phillip Schofield presumed this wouldn’t be the case and fans shouldn’t be building their hopes up.
Talking to The Daily Star, the ‘silver fox’ said: “Holly has been a triumph in the jungle.”
“I am so pleased because it’s worked out so well for Dec in what was a tricky situation. It was always going to be a difficult series for Dec so I was happy Holly was able to step in.”
He then went on to say that it’s unlikely she will be making her way to the jungle for a second time next year.
“I can assure you it’s very much a caretaker role.” he insisted. “Don’t get too attached.”
The Saturdays star, Rochelle Humes has been filling in for Holly on This Morning while she’s been away, however, Phillip admitted that he’s very much looking forward to catching up with the blonde bombshell upon her return.
“It has been lovely working with Rochelle, she was my first choice and it’s been great fun. ” he said. “But Dec got very lucky – he’s looking after my telly wife. When Holly gets back we will go out for a drink and a catch-up about it all.”
Harry Redknapp causes a bit of a stir with remarks about Emily Atack’s make-up less face…
Last night, viewers saw former footballer, Harry Redknapp take the jungle crown, which came as no surprise after securing himself as a firm-favourite from the very beginning of the series.
The comments he made morning during his exit interview were slightly awkward though.
On Tuesday evening in the jungle, runner-up Emily Atack asked Harry whether his son, Jamie Redknapp was single as she said she would be interested in getting to know him and who knows – even date him.
Talking on Good Morning Britain today, Harry said: “I’ll be honest, when I saw her in the jungle I thought no chance. But when I seen her today all scrubbed up I thought she’s very beautiful.
‘I saw her in the jungle and thought she hasn’t got a prayer. Today she looked fantastic.’
He then jokingly added: “I went, “Who are you?” and she said, “I was in the jungle with you”. And, “I said I don’t even recognise you.”‘
In her own exit interview, Emily also discussed her keen interest in Jamie: “I am sure if he had seen me in action over the last few weeks he might not be up for it. But I’ve got my make up on now, so he might be!”
She told the former footballer whilst in the jungle: “I bet I would make a really good daughter-in-law.’
Only time will tell what will happen with that one…let’s watch this space.
When will Ant be returning to TV?
Although Holly has proven herself to be a worthy replacement for Ant McPartlin on I’m A Celeb, we have some exciting news for you.
The Geordie presenter who has faced a number of personal struggles and also been in trouble with the law this year has been given the all-clear to come back onto our screens as soon as he is ready to do so.
The 43-year-old is all set to start filming for Britain’s Got Talent in January alongside Declan Donnelly.
The TV star decided to take time out from the public eye at the beginning of the year and has been absent from public appearances for around eight months, after his drink-driving scandal back in April.
Talking to The Sun, a source said: “Ant has completed his recovery and ITV has decided he is ready to be back at work for Britain’s Got Talent filming, which starts next month. It’s been an incredibly difficult two-year period but he has been entirely focused on turning his life around in order to return to work.
“ITV is very excited about Ant and Dec being reunited – but Ant’s recovery has been everyone’s first priority.”
We can’t wait to see Ant back – but what do you think about his return?
Social media reactions
“People shouldn’t forget that before social media and years gone by even before half of you were born there have been hundreds of celebrities who have done wrong in some shape matter or form. They are still on tv today all forgotten about simply because at the time there was no platform to shout it from. Google them and you’ll see it all. Yes, Ant done wrong but so have others.”
“Dec is clearly the better presenter, he has proved himself again and again, I think they should go their separate ways now, let Dec thrive!”
“Can’t wait, Holly did well in the jungle but they haven’t the chemistry as ant and Dec together”
“Glad to see Ant is on his way back he paid the price for what he’s done and now it’s time to move on and get back with Dec”
“Ant did what he had to do……we all make mistakes in life. Its how we deal with them that makes the difference. ..Well done ..!! Hoping we see the new Ant emerging with a new mindset. But hoping he hasn’t lost his old banter personality… Welcome back to our screens Ant…we have missed you”
“I think it’s fair to say we’re all going to have to agree to differ on here, I’ve loved having Holly with Dec in the jungle, she really is funny ( to me) but good luck to Ant”
