I’m a Celebrity co-host Ant McPartlin is missing on screen in this year’s series, but he has been there all the way without us even knowing it. Ant has had significant input in this series helping Dec and Holly to present the show together.
The best series yet
I’m a Celebrity has graced our screens since 2002, making the show 16 years old. This year’s series has been dubbed the best one to date. The producers are to be applauded for their choice of celebrities with fans of the show glued to their screens to watch the entertaining group of campmates who genuinely seem to like each other.
Harry Redknapp is loved for his witty humour and funny stories. Anne Hegerty is admired for her bravery and Nick Knowles is liked for his kind and caring nature. And to top it off, we have the simply brilliant celeb impressions from Emily Atack!
Dec’s announcement makes viewers sad
Viewers were saddened last night when Declan Donnelly made us all aware that the series is already half way in. Hailed as the best series yet, this was particularly disappointing news for viewers.
Fans took to twitter after the announcement was made. One tweet stated:
Am I the only one who can’t believe that I’m a celeb is already half way through and nearly finished? Absolutely, definitely not ready for this series to finish #ImACeleb
Another added, ‘I’m sad that we are already halfway through the show already though’, with somebody else writing, ‘Halfway through the series.. I don’t know if I can survive not seeing Nick Knowles on TV every night.’
Votes Off to start
A further announcement on the show was made last night to share that the Vote Offs will begin soon. Viewers will have the opportunity to vote for three celebrities to take part in the Immunity challenge.
Harry Redknapp, Nick Knowles and John Barrowman have been voted to take part in ‘Deadly Dash’. These scenes will air on tonight’s episode of I’m A Celebrity.
Last night’s trial left viewers squirming
Viewers along with host Holly Willoughby struggled to watch one of the worst Bushtucker trials to date.
The eating trials are notoriously the worst ones to complete with celebs having to put the most revolting things into their mouths in order to win meals for the camp. Repulsive items have previously included dead bugs, cooked pigs brains and a bull’s tongue.
Coronation Street actress Sair Khan and Hollyoaks Malique Thompson-Dwyer took part in one of the most revolting eating trials ever. The soap stars looked petrified when presented with the jungle delicacies that they were required to chomp down on.
On the menu were vomit fruit, fish eyes, sheep testicle, pig snouts, and teat masala. Sair did a great job as did Malique in popping the morsels into their mouths. However, there was a bit of gagging going on.
Ant is with us in spirit
Although he’s not there in person, Ant McPartlin has been integral to our viewing of I’m a Celeb this year. It has been claimed that he has been scripting gags for pals Declan Donnelly and Holly Willoughby.
An ITV presenter has claimed that 43 year Ant is still working on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here behind the scenes, even though he isn’t co-hosting this year.
British TV weather presenter and Event Host Emma Jesson felt the need to share on twitter that Ant was still very much involved in the show despite being temporarily replaced as host by Holly Willoughby.
She wrote: “I am informed that Ant was consulted for scripted Holly & Dec links for @imacelebrity series 2018,” Emma tweeted.
“Top move production team if this is the case, can see his hallmarks there.”
A rep for ITV declined to comment on Ant’s involvement in the current series.
Many fans have praised Holly for seamlessly stepping into Ant’s shoes on the popular ITV reality show as he continues to focus on his recovery and health following a stint in rehab.
Holly’s hosting has warmed up and the fans are loving her
In taking over from 43 year old Ant McPartlin, Holly certainly had big shoes to fill. She may have got off to a wobbly start, but she has certainly found her feet and the fans are loving her.
One fan tweeted: “Holly Willoughby is a credit to herself. Can’t imagine #ImACeleb without her. Didn’t think it would be the same without Ant but @hollywills is the perfect person to present with Dec in Ants absence.”
Another stated: “Petition for Holly to permenantly join Ant and Dec #imaceleb2018.”
While a third commented: “Don’t get me wrong I love ant and Dec together but Im absolutely loving Holly and Dec they’re hilarious.”
It was announced in August that Ant would not be co-hosting I’m a Celeb this year to focus on recovering. In April, he was admitted to rehab for prescription drug and alcohol related problems. Earlier on in the year, he was caught driving whilst twice over the legal limit and was slapped with a 20 month driving an and fined £86’000.
In a recent statement, he said: “My recovery is going very well and for that to continue having spoken to Dec and ITV, I have made the decision to take the rest of the year off.”
“I’d like to thank both Dec and ITV for their continued support and I look forward to getting back to work in the new year.”
Dec has commented on his friend’s absence: “Whilst I am obviously sad at the thought of being without my best friend in Australia this year, I am proud of the work Ant has been doing privately and I am fully supportive of his decision.
“I’m looking forward to us both being reunited on screen in 2019.”
Viewers will be pleased to hear that the funny duo plan on presenting together in next year’s series with Ant McPartlin fully intending to make a return to the jungle.
