This year’s I’m A Celebrity line-up up has secured a few household names this year, whilst some campmates are new on the scene and are about to make their fortune upon leaving the jungle. But, what everyone is dying to know, is how much is each star being paid to participate in the show?
Sources have leaked the paychecks of a few of the celebrities this year, so we’re about to reveal a rough estimate of the figures each star has been paid.
Reports suggest that one particular campmate is being paid a measly £13,000 in comparison to the highest-earning celeb raking in a whopping £250,000.
Last year, former Countdown star Carol Vorderman was the highest-earning celebrity in the series, securing £200,000 and therefore over £9,000 per day – not bad for three weeks work! Lesser-known names such as Jordan Banjo and Joel Dommett scooped a £25,000 figure during their stint.
A source close to the show revealed insider information for the 2017 figures: “There’s a very wide range of payments on the show, and every year some of the top names bag themselves around £250,000. But the pay scale slides all the way down to about a tenth of that.”
Here’s a low-down on just how much each celebrity is said to be earning this year:
Jennie McAlpine is best known for her portrayal of Fizz Brown in Coronation Street and is no doubt one of the best-known faces in the jungle this year. A source claimed that the actress is expected to take home around £125,000 for her stint in the show.
WAG Rebekah Vardy was only well-known for being the wife of England footballer Jamie Vardy before appearing on the show, however, most likely decided to join the line-up to secure a career for herself. According to a source, Rebekah is said to have scooped around £100,000 for signing up to be a campmate.
Vanessa White was also a recognised star in the music industry; being 1/5 of the English girl band The Saturdays. The 27-year-old who recently got booted off the show joined the group back in 2007 and had a string of popular hits including Forever Is Over, Up and Ego. According to sources, Vanessa was offered a sum of around £125,000 to appear in the show this year.
The ‘very small man’ Dennis Wise that Dec keeps harping on about is said to be receiving a very ‘small’ sum for his stint on the show. The former England player is probably used to earning the big bucks, so it’s shocking he’s agreed to a measly £25,000 for a three-week stint in the jungle.
44-year old Iranian comedian Shappi has appeared on popular shows such as Have I Got News for You and 8 Out of 10 Cats, therefore she’s been in the public eye on a number of occasions. However, alongside Dennis, Shappi is also scooping a very ‘small’ pay cheque of £25,000.
Everyone was a bit confused as to why Boris’ Johnson’s old man would be hitting Austraila for the 2017 series -(bearing in mind he had never even heard of a reality show before!) but many were gutted when he was voted out of the camp last night.
However, securing Stanley to appear on the show didn’t come at a cheap price, with a source claiming that ITV bosses were forced to pay the 77-year-old a huge £200,000 to secure him in the line-up; making Stanley the second-highest earner in the series.
Rumour has it that boxing champion Amir Khan is the highest-paid celebrity to ever grace the show – with an even higher pay packet than former glamour model and Loose Women panellist Katie Price.
A source said: This year Amir and Stanley are probably the biggest names, along with Jennie off Coronation Street.” and therefore, the star has had a cheque to match his name.
The source also added that Amir demanded to be paid around £250,000, which is an impressive sum in comparison to his fellow campmates. However, fans won’t be too pleased with this news as they’ve already seen his selfish side whilst residing in the camp. Dare we mention the Strawberry incident again?!
Georgia Toffolo (Toff)
According to some reports, Made in Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo is this year’s lowest-paid celeb, only securing a paycheck of £13,000. However, we’re unsure of how true that figure really is.
The source claimed that ITV bosses have secured the blonde bombshell for a bargain price, however upon leaving the jungle, some have predicted the 22-year-old will be raking in over a million pounds for future appearances.
Talking to The Sun, the source said: “Georgia has been gold from the start this series but ITV bosses have got her for a bargain price.
“She jumped at the chance to go into the jungle and producers didn’t need to throw much money at her. Compare her to Amir’s fee and they’ve got her for a snip.”
In comparison to Amir, Toff is receiving just 5% of the boxer’s pay packet – ouch.
Toff previously studied at the University of Westminster and despite only receiving a small sum from the prime-time show, she is already said to be worth a huge £800,000.
Whilst Amir is being paid the most out of the entire line-up, the source admitted that it is in fact Toff who is ‘providing the entertainment’ for viewers and is likely to have the best career outcome upon her exit.
PR expert Mark Brokowski told The Sun that he has high hopes for Toff’s career: “She’s obviously got a lingerie deal – she’s had a lot of bikinis in there. She’s a smart girl, she’s definitely got a future. Toff’s an open person, knows how to deal with reality TV – she’s got a bright future in front of her.” he said.
“Products, branding endorsements, lingerie, fashion deals. Made in Chelsea boys and girls do very well out of endorsing products. I would have thought that she might have even set up a lot of deals before she went into the jungle.”
