X Factor fans, get your tissue box ready because there’s some sad news to dish. X Factor boss Simon Cowell has announced that the sixteenth series of the singing contest will be postponed in order to promote two spin-off shows.
A ‘champion’ edition of the show will feature fan-favorites from previous years, whilst the second spin-off will include celebrity contestants.
As usual, we’ll hear the nerve-wrenching critiques from Louis Walsh, Nicole Sherzinger and Simon Cowell. According to the trailer, there may also be appearances from American Idol judge Randy Jackson and America’s Got Talent judge, Howie Mandel. It has yet to be confirmed whether or not they are simply guest judges.
So far, there’s no release date for the highly-anticipated singing talent show, but according to ITV it will be “coming soon”.
Dermot O’Leary appeared on ITV’s This Morning expressing his opinion on the show, describing it as a “risk” but complimented on Simon Cowell on his “bravery”.
Dermot said: “One thing I’ve always thought about Simon is that you don’t have to agree with him all the time, but I do admire his bravery. I admire the fact he’s goes, ‘You know what, let’s give it a go’.”
The host went on to add what we should expect from the show: “We filmed [the auditions] in the States at Simon’s house in Malibu. They come on and get coached for a week, I suppose, beforehand and they pick a couple of songs and come on and do a turn.
“It is a risk – I haven’t seen the shows yet – but having been there for two weeks or whatever in July, it felt good. And when it feels good it normally is good. And it felt fun and it felt warm.”
He also added: “I mean, it’s gonna be a competition because they get a record deal out of it at the end of it, but there was something natural and warm about the whole process.”
