Fans were left pondering whether part of the I’m A Celebrity had been set up for entertainment purposes last week, however, presenter Declan Donelly has been making slight digs at the viewers’ conspiracy theories which have left many of us in stitches.
On Monday night’s episode, Sair was confirmed as the next celebrity to be leaving the camp, but some viewers had already made the prediction of her departure based on the fact that she had had her ‘hair done’.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: “@imacelebrity still not rigged?#SairKhan had done her hair and was ready to leave…. hmmmm something a bit fishy about these vote offs @antanddec @hollywills”
However, Dec first slammed the fans theories and found the whole thing a bit of a joke.
The presenter mocked: “Done her hair? You’re clutching at straws now!”
Was Rita’s departure rigged so she could star in panto?
There were also suspicions surrounding Rita Simon’s exit on Tuesday evening after she received her letter from home just moments before Holly and Dec read out her name.
After receiving her letter, Rita said: “It’s so tangible that I’m about to see my family. My barriers have come down a bit and I just miss them all massively.” – which some viewers presumed was a hint that the news of her exit had already been revealed to her.
When Holly and Dec announced Rita’s eviction, she simply responded: “I’m sorry, I’m just so happy.”
Fans of the show jumped onto Twitter to comment on her bizarre reaction.
“Rita said earlier on in the show “I’ll be seeing my friends and family soon” like again is it FIXED?? She knew??” a fan blasted on the social media site.
“Rita knew she was leaving before they come into the camp to tell them. Stating something along the lines of “I’m about to see my family” after her letter was read out. And was then “voted” off 20 minutes later.” one curious fan wrote.
Another person added: “Well i’ll be! Its happened again @antanddec! Rita had her coat on so she knew she was goin!!”
When fans discovered that Rita had been booked to star in panto this year, many jumped to the conclusion that she had signed an agreement prior to entering the jungle, to ensure she would be leaving prematurely and could, therefore, be ready for panto on time.
“Coincidence that Rita gets voted out tonight and she’s due to open Bournemouth panto in 5 days? #ImACelebrity #ImACeleb.” one curious viewer wrote.
“What a coincidence that Rita was sent home when she starts panto on Saturday #imaceleb,” another added.
“Ooh that’s interesting (if it’s true) about Rita Simons being booked for panto in a few days time,” another shocked viewer added. “I wonder if they had an ‘early exit’ clause in her #ImACeleb contract or something?”
False claims suggested that her opening show was this Friday, therefore if she were to be in the final, she wouldn’t have departed from Australia until at least Sunday evening.
After delving into the story, it turns out Rita isn’t set to star in the show until next Wednesday, which would have given her three days to get home, even if she had been in the final.
The pantomime which has already started its run, is currently starring Jennifer Ellison in Rita’s role.
Dec made another dig at the ‘fix claims after Rita’s departure.
Holly said: “Who knows what was ahead for Rita…”; giving Dec the chance to make a quick-witted comical remark.
“Me!” he joked. “Five weeks in Sleeping Beauty at the Pavillion Ballroom Theatre”.
Fans of the show were loving Dec’s witty responses and many took to social media to praise the Geordie presenter for his hilarious comments surrounding the ‘fix’ claims.
“Love how Dec is making the fix claims into a joke @antanddec #ImACeleb,” one fan wrote online.
Another commented: “Dec has taken every single story about I’m a Celeb being fixed and turned them into a joke, I literally love him #ImACeleb.”
One user quipped: “Dec just loves to call out all these conspiracy theories #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity”
“Absolutely loving Dec’s little digs at all the fix theories #imaceleb.” another fan wrote.
Will Holly Willoughby be returning in 2019 for a second year?
Although fans were hesitant about letting Holly keep Ant’s seat warm in this year’s series, it seems she has truly won over the hearts of the viewers – but what everyone wants to know is whether she’ll be making a comeback next year.
Holly’s This Morning co-presenter Phillip Schofield warned viewers that they shouldn’t get too ‘attached’ to the presenter, as it’s highly unlikely she will be presenting in the jungle in 2019.
The ‘silver fox’ admitted that he was really missing his ‘TV wife’ and now can’t wait to have her back on the This Morning sofa in a few week’s time.
Talking to The Daily Star, Phillip said: “Holly has been a triumph in the jungle.”
“I am so pleased because it’s worked out so well for Dec in what was a tricky situation. It was always going to be a difficult series for Dec so I was happy Holly was able to step in.”
He then went on to say that it’s unlikely will be making her way to the jungle for a second time next year, as Ant is likely to be back in the spotlight from the beginning of next year.
“I can assure you it’s very much a caretaker role.” he insisted. “Don’t get too attached.”
The Saturdays star, Rochelle Humes has been filling in for Holly on This Morning while she’s been away, however, Phillip admitted that he’s very much looking forward to catching up with the blonde bombshell upon her return.
“It has been lovely working with Rochelle, she was my first choice and it’s been great fun. ” he said. “But Dec got very lucky – he’s looking after my telly wife. When Holly gets back we will go out for a drink and a catch-up about it all.”
