A group of friends have moaned about their holiday in Benidorm, as the coronavirus lockdown means they can’t get decent tans as the sun doesn’t reach their balconies.
Sunseekers are determined to make sure that their holiday isn’t spoilt due to coronavirus, but one group of pals who jetted off for some fun in the sun in Benidorm are the angriest as they won’t be able to get the dream tans they envisioned. Imagine the trauma.
A trio of girls, Nicole Dennis, 25, Joanne Lumsden and Lindsey Williamson, both 24, have expressed their disappointment about their holiday in Spain as they can’t even get a tan from the balcony at their four-star apartment as they’ve found themselves forced under lockdown.
The girls, who are from Aberdeen, have spoken about their experience to The Hook, Nicole said: “Everyone had been told they were going to be banged up in a matter of hours and by midnight all the bars and strip were going to be closed”.
“We got our bikinis on to go to our balcony but realised the sun doesn’t reach it because of the position we’re in”.
On Friday, before the Spanish riot police were sent out in full force, the friends did manage to have one big night out but were forced to go back to their hotel, Apartamentos Terralta, before they would have liked.
“Hundreds of British guests from loads of hotels got wasted. It was like New Year’s Eve,” Nicole added.
“When the night came to an end there were Spanish riot police out everywhere making sure people got back to their hotels and stayed in their rooms. It felt like the last party we’d have in a while”.
Meanwhile, the same can be said for the UK as people have been advised that for their safety, it is best not to attend clubs, bars and restaurants as a result of government measures which aim to contain the virus as much as possible.
Many Brits abroad have been left stranded as they are faced with the uncertainty on how they will get back home as borders across Europe are now closed and all flights suspended.
Joanna, a carer, believes that this is very concerning and has stated: “We want to get home. It was meant to be Wednesday, but we’ve been told that isn’t happening now as we’re not allowed to leave the room. We’re trapped”.
Currently, holidaymakers are being forced to sit and wait for news on how and when they will be allowed back to the UK to be reunited with their loved ones.
