Punters in a Wetherspoons pub were shocked to discover a thief breaking open the fruit machine, before walking away with wads of cash.

The shocking moment occurred in a pub named the Sir John Oldcastle in Farringdon in Central London and was recorded by one onlooker, who posted the footage online.
The footage captioned: “MY MAN ROBBED THE BANDIT IN SPOONS @ SHOREDITCH HAHAHAHAHA” shows a man in a black baseball cap and sunglasses forcing the machine open with a screwdriver and snatching the tin of cash inside. Mutters can be heard from gobsmacked punters, as they witness the incident taking place.
“No way, I can’t believe it,” one of the onlookers is heard to say on the clip, whilst another shouts: “Oh my God, what are you doing?”.
The guy filming the clip then shouts over to the thief: “Go on son, get them shades off for the camera lad!”
Viewers of the footage couldn’t believe their eyes, with many making comments on the post, which was shared on our Facebook page, Many also took to Twitter to discuss the incident.
“So far on Twitter today I’ve seen someone robbing a fruit machine in a pub, and someone throwing a hot drink in someone’s face. Neither of which I find funny, crime isn’t a joke.” one user commented.
“Unbelievable! This is someone robbing the fruit machine at my old work from when I lived in London the Sir John Oldcastle pub in Farringdon. Please share let’s catch this person….” another urged.
Many viewers of the video argued that an onlooker should have stepped in, which certainly caused debate on Twitter, due to the fact that the thief was holding a weapon.
“The guy had a 10″ screwdriver! Why would you put your body on the line for a fruit machine?” one Twitter user argued.
The Metropolitan police confirmed they are aware of the incident and the footage, which has since gone viral.
