It appears there’ll be plenty on TV to watch this festive season, from the highly anticipated Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special to the just-announced Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip which will be aired on 23 December.
Hopefully, by 23 December you will have sorted the present wrapping and got your Christmas food all stocked up in the fridge – which means you’ll have time to settle in front of the telly for some belly laughs by tuning into three big television personalities in the hit ITV cooking show Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip as they go on an adventure across the noticeably unfestive desert.
Despite Gino desperately wanting to visit Jerusalem, the easyJet flights do not come cheap so the group instead have settled for a trip to Morroco instead – where the trio will be swapping presents, Christmas trees and roast dinners for snakes, saffron and camels.
The one-hour episode will see the chefs travel 6,000 miles away from their final destination of Marrakesh in pursuit of experiencing different cultures and foods, with plenty of laughs along the way.
The official description of the festive special says: “They find themselves on the back of three camels in the middle of the Agafay desert but Three Wise Men they are not.
“They’re searching out the hospitality of a local Arabic desert-dwelling family who will show them the delights of eating their mutton nose to tail. Literally.
“But not before they are expected to put up their own tent for the night and get stuck in.”
During their journey, the trio will get stuck into Morroco’s exclusive saffron picking season, whilst there stocking up on the expensive spice.
This isn’t the only task the group will have, they will also be expected to do some goat herding, fishing in wooden boats, donkey kart rides and an adventure on motorbikes with sidecars.
With everything the trio has in store for them, if the group actually make it to Marrakesh they will be rewarded with some well-deserved luxury as they take to rest at a traditional Morrocan riad.
Adding to the show’s description: “Although their visit to the local hammam for a traditional massage is anything but luxurious!”
To round off yet another epic adventure, the trio will join together to make a festive feast which will, of course, be influenced by their recent travels and the people they met along the way.
Gordon, Gino & Fred: Christmas Road Trip will air on ITV between 9-10 pm on 23 December.
