Greggs has officially announced that they will be rolling out nationwide delivery after a successful trial with Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo.
Following the bakery giant’s success with the vegan steak bake and sausage roll, Greggs has announced they will soon be partnering up with a long-term nationwide service which means you can order all the pasties you want to your door!
As of 2017, Greggs has had several stints with Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo, testing out food deliveries in cities including Newcastle, London, Birmingham, and Glasgow.
Chief Executive Roger Whiteside announced a trading update this week which means the company is almost ready to announce who they will officially be partnering up with to carry out their nationwide delivery service.
Mr Whiteside informed City AM: “What we have been doing for more than a year is trialling in different places and different partners and we have learned enough to decide that we are interested in rolling out across the country.”
The Sun got in contact with Greggs but they did not reveal an exact date as to when this nationwide service will be launched. Neither was it confirmed how many platforms they’d be using. The baking goods chain also did not answer as to whether or not each city will be being delivered to too. Which basically means a lot of it is still a mystery!
In the trading update which was released yesterday, it showed that Greggs had opened up 138 new shops this year, whilst also closing 41 down.
In total, this brings Greggs’ portfolio to 2,050 stores across the UK. In 2020, there are plans for another 100 chains to be opened.
After the success of vegan steak bakes and sausage rolls, Greggs has hinted to the fact that they will be bringing out more plant-based products, with the most potential addition being a vegan chicken bake.
