I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! may not be returning for a little while, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look at the rumored celebrities who may be facing creepy crawlies and eating alligator testicles.
The show bosses are on the hunt for potential celebrities to face Bushtucker trials. Based on the magic of previous years, with the help of jungle legends such as Harry Redknapp, Emily Atack, and Noel Edmonds, the producers are on a mission to make something fantastic happen.
When it comes to designing the dream camping team, Van Praagh has said that despite last year’s show being a great success, for 2019 she’s after something completely different when interviewed at the BAFTA Masterclass for I’m A Celeb.
She said: “It’s very early days, but we’ve already started casting.
“I think we know what works. I think of our show as a comedy and so I’m looking for people who are funny and high energy as we know these types of things always work.
“But otherwise you want to do something completely different every year. You’re never looking for the Henry Redknapp or the next John Barrowman or the next Fleur East. You’ve got to do something different.”
Richard Cowles, Creative Director of the show also added that the show wanted to add something different to reality television. Unlike similar shows such as Big Brother, I’m A Celebrity aims to create heartwarming moments; it makes an interesting show to see how the characters react to their new and harsh environment.
“We have never cast for conflict. If arguments go on for too long it can get a bit dull and relentless.
“We will always try and cast for warmth and for people to get on. But we want it to be as stressful as it can be because that’s when you see people’s true colours and how they would react.”
Take a look at the line-up of celebrities the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! producers are eyeing up.
1. Kym Marsh
One potential member of the jungle is Coronation Street star, Kym Marsh who has hinted there is potential she could be entering the jungle, based off her column in the OK! Magazine, where she stated: “Loose Women fans stun’d be terrible! I wouldn’t like the bugs or the sleep deprivation and I’d never jump out of a helicopter.
“My campmates would probably starve because I’d fail to win any stars!
“Never say never, but I don’t want to do any reality shows so soon after leaving the Street later this year.”
As she no longer has a role in the popular soap, this speculation has some plausibility.
2. Olivia Attwood
Reality TV star Olivia Attwood has already confirmed that she has been approached by producers of the show, informing The Daily Star: “There have been conversations with I’m A Celebrity. It’s ongoing.
“It would be my dream to do the jungle. I’ve made no qualms about that. It’s such an iconic show.”
She also added: “Going out there [for Extra Camp] gave me a taste for it. I got to do a trial, which was amazing.”
3. Duncan James
Blue’s Duncan James has already rumored to have signed a deal to star in the popular show, according to The Sun.
Apparently, Duncan was offered a large sum of money to potentially face some of his worst fears in the jungle, including snakes.
A source said: “Producers think he could be telly gold because he will have to face his phobias head-on.
“The best campmates are the ones who have to overcome their fears — and Duncan has told them he is game for anything.”
4. Alan Halsall
Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Hobbs, has also been speculated to have been recruited for the show by producers.
The rumors began after a recent social media picture. In the image, Alan wore hiking gear whilst appearing to sit in the wilderness. He captioned the image: “It’s a jungle out there,” and also included a bug emoji. If that isn’t a hint, then what is?
5. Maura Higgins
Love Island fans, you may once again be able to get your daily dosage of Maura Higgins, after one major fan contacted ITV asking how many retweets would it take to get Maura Higgins sitting by the jungle campfire.
If you’re curious, the broadcasters responded 10,000.
6. Myles Stephenson
X-Factor boy bander, Myles Stephenson is another rumored contestant of the jungle. Myles Stephenson won the musical talent show as a part of Rak-Su all the way back in 2017. After dealing with a rocky break up with Love Island star Gabby Allen, this may be the strange break away he needs.
An insider informed The Sun: “Myles is a free agent now and so he can’t wait to go to Australia and get away.
“It’s a physical and mental challenge and he’s really looking forward to testing himself.”
7. Summer Monteys-Fulham
If you’re an avid Great British Bake Off fan, you may know of Paul Hollywood’s ex-girlfriend, Summer Monteys-Fulham. It has been noted by some that Summer has liked two posts which claim she’s a part of this year’s lineup.
It will definitely be a difficult transition from baked goods to maggot cocktails.
A source in contact with Mail On Sunday mentioned the glamorous ex of Paul is planning to use the show as a strategy to eventually launch her own show about horses.
“Summer is the person to sign up right now and she is keen to get herself on television. Obviously, I’m A Celebrity would be her top prize.”
8. Ian Wright
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has reportedly been in talks with the producers about entering the jungle. Hopefully, the six-figure salary will be enough to make Ian take the plunge.
An insider told The Sun: “Ian would be a massive signing for ITV who have been keen to get him Down Under for a while.
“After watching Harry Redknapp win the last series, Ian has decided he would be up for giving it a whirl. He’s been offered a six-figure sum to take part.
“Ian’s not afraid of much but has joked to his pals he’ll be useless at the eating tasks because he’s so fussy.”
9. Ulrika Jonsson
From Dancing On Ice to Big Brother, Ulrika Jonsson has entered her fair share of reality TV shows, but the list looks like it could be stretched that little bit longer as rumors suggest the popular television presenter is in talks to enter the jungle.
Various sources have suggested the 51-year-old is considering being a part of the jungle-based reality show in an attempt to revive her career.
According to an insider in contact with The Sun: “Ulrika has been through a lot in the past few years. And now that she is getting divorced she feels the time is right for a new challenge.
“The Australian jungle certainly fits that description. And she knows that if she signs, it will be the first of many new TV contracts coming her way.
“Ulrika is keen to throw herself back into her presenting work full time and she feels that this could be the right first step for her. Meanwhile, ITV bosses think she could be a great fit for the jungle, as she won’t hold back when it comes to getting stuck into the challenges.”
10. Lucy Fallon
It looks like it may be a Coronation Street reunion with soap star Lucy Fallon also in talks to enter the show.
Last year Lucy informed The Daily Star she would consider being a contestant on the show: “I think I’d be good at the jungle. I like to challenge myself and that’s the most challenging show you can do.”
11. Stacey Dooley
Stacey Dooley has been a bookie favorite for entering the jungle this year. Presenter, documentary-maker and Strictly Come Dancing queen, Stacey Dooley will certainly make for an interesting character in the jungle.
12. Rahul Mandal
Another bookie favorite is The Great British Bake Off winner Rahul Mandal, who was crowned champion last October of the popular baking competition show.
This comes not long after fellow Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain teased she would love to be a part of the show when on Lorraine, where she said: “I’d love to do the jungle though if I was offered.
“I like being dirty and mucky and like the idea of living in the outdoors, flying out the planes.”
13. Dani Dyer
It looks like Dani Dyer may be a permanent fixture on our television screens, having briefly appeared on the short-lived Survival Of The Fittest and of course, being crowned the winner on the fourth series Love Island, alongside Jack Fincham.
Having been tipped for last year’s show, it looks like this could be the year to see Dani battle the Bushtucker trials.
14. Richard Madeley
According to I’m A Celeb TV hosts, Ant and Dec, daytime TV staple Richard Madeley is being “chased” by producers to a part of the show.
The iconic duo mentioned the 63-year-old at the Royal Television Society, claiming Richard was being “tracked down” by producers of the show.
Dec said: “We have a list that we get every year and we add to it and subtract from it.”
