There has been a considerable amount of media coverage around Ant McPartlin’s break up with Lisa Armstrong over the course of the last few months. Social Media has played its part in publicly sharing the problems that the break up has caused.
The pain of the break-up was not helped when the media revealed that Ant has started a relationship his PA, Anne-Marie Corbett and a former friend of Lisa’s.
In dating Anne-Marie, McPartlin has gained a much wanted family in her two young daughters. Spotted recently on a family day out to Harrods on 8th June, the star looked as though he didn’t want to be seen making a dash out of door while his girlfriend left the store separately with her girls.
In the past, the presenter of ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me out of Here,’ has made no secret that he was keen to have a family with Lisa. Work commitments were given as reasons for getting in the way of children but in July 2010 Ant spoke about how he and Lisa were trying then.
“We’ve wanted children for a while, but we’re both busy,” Ant commented. “We’re on a break now, the first proper one for 15 years. “So Lisa and I are trying for a baby…well, we’ve been trying for a little while so fingers crossed.”
Sadly, the couple never had any children together.
Anne-Marie, 42, has two girls with ex-husband Scott, who she split from in October 2017, shortly before Ant moved out of his marital home and into a rented property just a few streets away from Lisa. According to sources, Ant is not linked to Anne-Marie’s marriage breakdown in any way.
It appears that many of Ant and Lisa’s mutual friends have sided with one or the other and have used social media to have their say. The latest being Lisa’s friend Craig Young, whose tweets are shown further down. Before that, recap on what Lisa Armstrong has had to say on Twitter.
Lisa’s Social Media reaction
In a display of emotion, ‘The Britain’s Got Talent’ Make Up Artist expressed her heartbreak after the news of her ex’s new love came to light in a tweet on 17th June at 5.08am displaying three hearts; the first two broken. The time perhaps suggests that she was unable to sleep due to the shock of finding out about the pair.
Responding to a supporter, Lisa conveyed her hurt and that Anne-Marie was someone who she considered a friend.
However, a friend of Ann-Marie’s suggested that she and Lisa were never friends, and did in fact ‘never get on.’
“Anne-Marie is really upset at the way Lisa is trying to portray them as great friends,’ the friend claimed.
“It’s really unfair – she’s trying to make out this is some sort of betrayal, but that just isn’t the case. She hated working for Lisa and they didn’t get on well at all. They often clashed.”
To get over her heartbreak, Lisa has been spending time with her loyal pal Craig Young in Los Angeles following the news that Ant has moved on with Corbett. The friends have known each other for over two decades. Both were part of the band Deuce. Their debut single ‘Call it Love,’ was released in January 1994 and made its way to number 11 in the charts.
Lisa Armstrong’s friend Craig Young blasts Ant on Twitter
The make-up artist’s friend and former Deuce band member Craig Young took to twitter in an online rant directed at her ex blasting the star’s ‘appalling behaviour.’
Craig re-tweeted an article entitled: “Ant McPartlin’s not a victim”, and comments that Lisa’s heart must have been “torn out” when she read that he had moved on with the couple’s former PA and friend Anne-Marie Corbett.
The former Deuce band member who has supported his pal Lisa through the difficulties within her marriage acknowledged Ant’s drug and alcohol issues as an illness but states in an online tweet that his behaviour is “not an excuse for such utter disregard for good humans.”
He added: “In a few years you might come to realize the pain you have caused and the irreparable wounds that can’t heal, and you will no doubt be full of remorse. But something tells me it might be too late. #sorrynotsorry.’”
The article goes on to say that Lisa must have felt devastated about the news of the relationship as she and Anne-Marie were friends. The former PA was someone who Lisa “welcomed into their home.” To add insult to injury, the new couple were seen dining at a restaurant in Wimbledon where Ant and Lisa lived when they were married.
However, not everyone on Twitter agreed with Craig’s rant. @jenningsdeb67 tweeted:
“Then why was she so desperate to get back with him! If he treated her so badly why doesn’t she just say good riddance and move on let ant move on he is finally happy in himself .He ended the relationship months ago he hasn’t cheated on her. Just because she can’t accept it ant”
She then followed up with:
“she needs to signing the divorce papers and let ant get on with is life he told her he dont went her no moor so she needs to let go she needs to grow up and just signing the papers y drag it out like this so just do it we love ant and dec xxx”
@sportherm added: “Unfortunately I had to follow you to be able to leave a comment. Your natural preconceptions and prejudices make you judgemental. People may chose certain behaviours because they are a comfort blanket. Alcoholism is an illness so therefore understanding, not narcassism is needed.”
@daversphere appears to supports Craig Young’s post though: “Too late for his marriage, but two drunk driving incidents? I spent years with medical problems after getting hit by a drunk driver. Time to grow up, Ant. Lisa deserves better. However is enabling him, aside from himself, needs to stop.”
