Last year, Ant McPartlin checked into rehab after reports declared that the TV star had been battling with addiction. During this time, his marriage with Lisa Armstrong was facing huge difficulties, however, she stood by her husband’s side as he underwent treatment to aid his recovery. The news later came that their pair were set to divorce after 12 years of marriage.
Ant had, in fact, moved on fairly quickly after splitting from Lisa and quickly got into a new relationship with his former assistant, Anne-Marie Corbett.
After leaving rehab, the presenter was then discovered to have been drink-driving in April of last year, which resulted in a collision with another vehicle. He was sentenced to Wimbledon Magistrates court, when the judge informed him “At the time when it happened, you were struggling with various personal problems and also alcohol issues for some months. This incident happened, sadly when it seems you suffered a brief relapse”.
Ant was seemingly grateful for his wife’s support and released a public statement which read: ” The first step is to admit to yourself you need help. I’ve let people down. I’m truly sorry. I feel like I have let a lot of people down and for that, I’m truly sorry. I want to thank my wife, my family and closest friends through this really difficult time”
Lisa sends well wishes to Demi Lovato
Lisa really knows the hardships which come with substance abuse, therefore she sent her love and best wishes to singer Demi Lovato a few months back, after the singer was reported to have had her own trouble battling addiction. Demi was taken to hospital back in June after a suspected overdose, after being found by paramedics at her Hollywood home.
In a tweet, Lisa poured out her love and best wishes to the singer, writing: “Reminder that Demi Lovato went 6 years of being sober. 6 years of sobriety regardless of 1 relapse is incredible N shows a LOT of strength. Some people don’t realise addiction is almost, if not, a disease. No matter how many years go by, the struggle is still strong. She’s strong”.
It has no doubt been a traumatic 12 months for Lisa, but the make-up artist has since revealed that she would now be happy to move on after her lengthy marriage to Ant. The couple split in January, which just less than 6 months after Ant came out of rehab and was on his way to starting a whole new life for himself.
Despite the devastating news of their split, Lisa seems to have picked herself up and could now be hitting the big-time. It was announced is set to launch her own range of cosmetics; following her success on being a make-up artist to the stars on BBC 1’s Strictly Come Dancing; therefore, it seems Lisa’s truly got it all going on for her after a rocky 2017.
Lisa’s comments on finding new love
The 41-year-old admitted she has finally come to terms with her traumatic split from Ant and is ready to find new love whenever the opportunity arises. But, she did admit that love isn’t the priority on her list at the moment, as she is set on making her dreams come true.
Instead of having her sole focus on meeting Mr Right, Lisa is now putting all of her efforts into starting up her very own make-up school, in which she hopes to pass on all that she has learnt throughout her career to new and upcoming make-up artists.
In an interview, she said: “I’d like to bring out my own range, it’s something i’d really like to do…or a make-up school, that would be cool”.
Aside from her plans of making it big in business, she also admitted that she was feeling “really good” and states that her wellbeing is down to the fact that she has been hitting the gym to boost her fitness and frame of mind.
Although she’s feeling fairly well in herself, she admitted that love isn’t on the cards for her right now. When asked about whether she’d be up for dating in the not so distant future, she said: “I don’t know about that yet”.
Social media reactions on Lisa’s approach to moving on:
Those on social media had a lot to say about the news of Lisa’s wish to move on. Whilst many wished her the best of luck for the future, others weren’t so sympathetic:
“You would think she is the only one to go through a divorce and get hurt well sorry Lisa you’re not it happens so please stop with the poor me card”.
“I thought she wanted to divorce Ant way back when he was in rehab.? I’m glad she’s moving on but I think she has some blame in this breakup too.”
“I’m sorry to say this cause I love Ant and I’m sure his soon to be ex is lovely aswell, but it does seem to be becoming a competition about who is falling in love again, or is this gossip the media put out because that’s what they do. People have problems of one sort or another and get divorced every day, it’s nothing new”.
“So bored of her in the news yet again attention seeking, who cares divorce has been going on for years, get over it and move on women, give us all a break from your moaning.”
Others sent Lisa words of kindness and encouragement, whilst others felt sympathy for her:
“Feel sorry for Lisa. She didn`t deserve to be treated in the way she did. Some people with addictions are so selfish. He proved that when he chose to drive.”
“Looking into her eyes which are the window to our soles it’s full of sadness I hope she finds happiness one day as she probably thought her life was going to be with Dec nobody and I mean nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors me personally I wish her luck on her life”
“I wish them both the best and really do hope they’re going to be friends again one day, as they’ve been together a very long time, so good luck to them both.”
“I wish her all the luck in the world, she’s been through just as much as Ant and he’s walked away with a new love, good luck Lisa.”
“So many keyboard warriors end of day she looks hurt sadness in her eyes she probably doesn’t ask for media attention but she gets it, leave her alone”
