A mum decided to bake her son a cake for his fourth birthday which she made space-themed – and it’s out of this world!
A young mum named Naushee decided she wanted to design her son, Ilyas, a birthday cake that would be multi-layered with an interstellar design on the inside, as well as the outside. The end result was spectacular!
To create the showstopping cake for her little boy, Naushee decorated the outside with handpainted planets, with a scattering of stars.
To top off the cake she created a rocket ship that looks like it is blasting off into space. All she needed to do was make sure she started off with a white cake base, that way she could incorporate the bold “true colours” of a galaxy and milky way.
However, the mum found all this pretty easy. It was the inside of the cake that would prove to be difficult.
After looking online for a space cake recipe like the design she had envisioned, she realised that no one else appeared to have carried on the solar system theme onto the inside of the cake, therefore Naushee was left with no choice but to “improvise”.
To create the colour batter, the mum used food colouring for the various planets and sun. She used colours such as red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.
As the base, Naushee wanted the base to be purple, but she wanted other colours to create the spheres. To complete this, the mum used cake pop moulds which would be incorporated into the overall cake before being baked. So, the cake pops were added to the cake batter before being placed in the oven.
To create further astronomical details, all this creative mum needed to do was swirl the different colour batters into the purple base of the cake.
Of course, as Naushee had put so much effort into the cake, she had to make sure the rest of her son’s birthday was in keeping with the theme of space. Therefore, to make an unforgettable birthday party the culinary mum also made space-themed cupcakes and biscuits, which sure went down a treat!
