The “worst case of bed bugs ever” has been discovered on mattress which the owner still sleeps on.
In Maryland, US, pest controller Rory McCarthy, 50, responded to an infestation which had completely gotten out of hand.
After working 25 years within the pest control industry, Rory never believed any kind of dirt or grime could shock him.
That was until his gruesome discovery, in which he found a bed and mattress which had an endless amount of bed bugs as unwanted residents.
In complete shock at what he saw, Rory filmed the discovery so he could show others.
Im the footage, Rory told his colleagues to not “put their pants” near the mattress and insisted they lifted the bed slowly and carefully, in order to keep a safe distance from the contamination.
There were a huge number of eggs which had sprawled across the filthy mattress, whilst many of the bugs were crawling away to claim even further of the unpleasant room.
The bugs had taken over the house’s curtains, cushions and chairs.
According to Story Trender, many of the bugs had made a home across the wooden bed frame and the carpet underneath.
In an interview with the news outlet, Rory said: “Bed bugs can be one of the most difficult and expensive bugs out there to get rid of.
“I’ve been doing this for 25 years and it still amazes me seeing bad infestations, but I still get very excited like it’s the first time seeing them because we’re really good at what we do.”
Many social media users were left disgusted after seeing footage of the infestation Rory posted.
What shocked many was the fact that the owner still slept on the mattress, despite bugs crawling everywhere.
Georgie Tomlinson said: “Take out all the furniture and curtains and burn the lot then fumigate the whole house!”
Actually, bed bugs are not a very uncommon issue. Despite being itchy and feeding on the blood of exposed skin, they don’t usually cause many health problems and do not spread disease.
But still, would you let it get to this level of dirt?
Well, in this case, the owner of this mattress really did let the bed bugs bite… Yep, completely gross. But is it as gross as the fact that 45% of people don’t change their underwear on a daily basis?
