Kristen Stewart stars in the gripping and tense new thriller, Underwater.
Imagine the perils that you could discover under the sea. Seriously, think about it. Miles beneath the land, in the pitch black – it’s a wonder why no one has tried to really capture that feeling on screen for years. Well, now they have.
Twentieth Century Fox has just released the first must-watch trailer for William Eubank’s Underwater, and it looks fantastic.
The story follows a crew of underwater researches who have to fight for survival when an earthquake destroys their subterranean laboratory. Soon after, they begin realise that something else is keeping them down there.
Sure, the premise sounds similar to many “lost at sea” films of that particular genre, but as soon as you watch the trailer, you’ll see why Underwater feels rather different.
Watch the brand new trailer below:
Starring in Eubank’s thriller is Kristen Stewart, continuing her impressive streak of excellent performances, TJ Miller, Jessica Henwick, Mamoudou Athie, Vincent Cassel and John Gallagher Jr.
As you can see, the trailer does not give much away and the plot is currently being kept tightly under wraps. Yet plenty of fans are already looking forward to seeing Underwater, when it will be released in January 2020.

Judging by the trailer, it looks like Underwater could be the first thriller to really tackle the idea of the deep and watery unknown since James Cameron’s huge underwater blockbuster, The Abyss (1989), which starred Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantoni, and Michael Biehn.
What do we think? Does Underwater look pretty generic or could it be the biggest underwater action-thriller film since The Abyss?
