Scorsese, De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci. Need I say any more?
The brand new trailer for Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman has just dropped and it looks absolutely brilliant.
The Irishman tells the story of World War II veteran, Frank Sheeran, a hitman who worked his way alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th century. With the film spanning decades, Frank reflects back on his time with the mafia among some of the most monumental moments in recent history, including the legendary disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa, played by Al Pacino.
Am I the only who thinks The Irishman sounds a bit like a Mafia version of Forrest Gump? It’s the mafia flick we’ve all been waiting for!
In the fairly moody trailer, we see Sheeran recount his life in the mafia against the backdrop of post-war America, including his time working for Hoffa and the presidential campaign of JFK. Check out the brand new, first-look trailer below:
Directed by the legendary Martin Scorsese and featuring an all-star cast including; Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, and Harvey Keitel, The Irishman is a Netflix original film and is already expected to become one of the most successful Netflix original films of all time.
The Irishman has had film fans excited for a long time, given that it is the ninth collaboration between Scorsese and De Niro, and the fourth time that De Niro and Pacino have worked together. It’s also one of only a handful of projects that Pesci has taken on, since his retirement from acting in 1999. No doubt fans of Scorsese’s Goodfellas will be extremely excited to see the trio of De Niro, Pesci and Scorsese team up again.
The Irishman is coming to Netflix towards the end of this year and will also be available in selected cinemas.
