Daniel Craig comes under fire for wearing the baby sling
Causing controversy seems to be somewhat of a hobby for Piers who has ‘stirred it up,’ on many an occasion.
On Monday, the Good Morning host ‘stirred the pot’ yet again by suggesting that Daniel Craig’s use of a body sling whilst on a solo outing in New York on Sunday to carry his new-born baby was emasculating.
Unimpressed Piers tweeted: ‘Oh 007.. not you as well?!!! #papoose #emasculatedBond.’
A Celebrity feud that we never saw coming
Angered American actor Chris Evans who plays Captain America took to twitter to berate 53 year old Piers for condemning Dads for wearing papooses.
“You really have to be so uncertain of your own masculinity to concern yourself with how another man carries his child. Any man who wastes time quantifying masculinity is terrified on the inside.”
Morgan retweeted the comment with the caption: “Captain America wouldn’t wear a papoose.”
One fan replied to the tweet with a mock-up image of Captain America sporting a sling, while another called for changes in the next Avengers to mock Morgan’s ignorance. “Can in some way add a scene in with Steve and a baby strapped to him using a papoose,” they suggested.
Incensed twitters uses join the argument in support
Angered Dads have bombarded Piers twitter post by replying with hoards of photos of them wearing their babies in a papoose. One tweeter replied: One of my favourite things since being a dad is taking this little dude out like this, pretty sure my masculinity is in tact as well #papoose#pierisatit
Ryan Hakes@rhakes shared a photo of two babies strapped to him and tweeted: ‘If Daniel Craig is “emasculated” for wearing his baby then consider me in good company! #papoose#emasculatedBond
‘Tough Guy’ celebs wade in to share their support for the papoose
TV ‘tough guy’Ross Kemp defiantly posed for a photo wearing the criticised sling on Good Morning Britain today.
The former EastEnders star said: “If I fall over now I have two hands to protect the child. If I have to carry the shopping, I can carry the bag in one hand, walk the dog or open the car door.
“It’s really good for babies. It’s good for their digestive system… it’s bonding with my baby. It makes you more of a man because it shows you care.”
Australian UFC featherweight fighter Alex Volkanovski shared a snap taken on his way to Thailand with his daughter, saying: ‘Did my whole fight camp with her in the #papoose…she finished camp unscathed!!’
Piers later clarified: ‘There’s nothing wrong in carrying or caring for your child. I did it with all four of mine. My ire is directed solely at the papoose.
‘Wearing a papoose doesn’t mean you “care” more about your kids.’
And in response to a woman who said her husband used to carry their sons around in a sling so she could get some rest, he asked: ‘Why couldn’t he use his arms, like every other generation of dads?’
Not one to let things slide, Morgan was still posting about the subject late last night. “On the red carpet tonight.. now THIS is how you hold a baby,” he captioned a snap of himself holding a doll.
Harry Hill gets one in the face for Dads
54 year old Harry Hill appeared on Good Morning Britain this morning to promote his new tour.
The comedian was teaching the programme hosts how to build the perfect cream pie before slapping one in the face of an unsuspecting Piers Morgan.
Getting his own back on behalf of all the papoose-wearing dads, Hill yelled ‘that’s for the guys that wear papooses’ as a speechless Morgan wiped whipped cream from his face.
Piers, who seemed to be basking in the moment, suddenly leapt up and threw another pie in co-host, 47-year-old Susanna Reid’s face after he caught her laughing at him. The cream went in her hair and all over her green satin dress.
As if that wasn’t enough, Piers then threw another at Harry, whilst chomping down on bits of unsuspected pie in his mouth whilst talking at the same time.
Piers Morgan was criticised for making a joke about the #MeToo campaign.
In March this year, Piers Morgan came under fire for make a joke about the #MeToocampaign whilst presenting Good Morning Britain. He read out a tweet from pal Bradley Walsh, who’d joked that he and Susanna Reid reminded him of Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepherd’s characters in Moonlighting.
A picture of the two actors then appeared alongside them on screen, prompting Piers to ask Susanna if they could re-enact the images.
“Come on, come on, you know you want to,” he quipped. “Come on, dangle your little arm around me, you know you want to. We’ve got to try and recreate it, come on.
“You’re allowed to. I’m not going to ‘#MeToo’ you! Come on. You’re allowed to touch me in the workplace, come on.”
Susanna then looked stunned by the comment and hit back: “It’s about whether I want to, not whether you allow me to. I don’t want to put my arm around you.”
Social Media reactions:
Carole Bailey: Good I watched this morning and was getting fed up hearing his opinions on everything going ! Sometimes he does talk some sense but today he was just wrong to air his personal views and ram it down your throats it was too much at 7 am!
Graham Vernon: I don’t agree with Piers on somethings and on others I do (nothing wrong with papooses)
But to all those who can’t stand him 1) he speaks his mind and you won’t get that from the bias bbc 2) You won’t get pie’s flung on the bbc & 3) it was done in great humour (even ex bbc Susanna loosened into it)
I’ll miss Piers, whilst he’s away It’ll be mediocre (like an unbias bbc)
Michelle Williams: Well done Harry! You have done what most of would love to do to Piers, shut him up! 😂
