‘#AbolishTheMonarchy’ Trends on Twitter After Prince Harry & Meghan’s Oprah Interview

‘#AbolishTheMonarchy’ is trending on Twitter in the UK following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

During the highly anticipated two-hour chat, the couple dropped several bombshells. And some of them were pretty dark.

At one point, the Duchess of Sussex revealed why her son, Archie, wasn’t given a title when he was born.

She claimed it was because the family had concerns about how ‘dark’ his skin would be.

Gobsmacked, Oprah asked: “There were conversations about how dark your baby is going to be?”

Meghan replied: “Several conversations… potentially and what that would look like.”

Viewers are now calling for the monarchy to be dismantled as it is ‘racist,’ and ‘not fit for purpose’.

One stated: “Proud of Meghan to open up about what has happened to her. Just hearing what she went through and how badly she was treated is so heartbreaking.”

Another remarked: “People waking up today just realising that the British Monarchy is a classist, racist institution?”

While a third said: “The Royal Family repeatedly expressed concerns about her baby’s skin colour.

“They discussed not giving him a Royal title. They failed to protect her from the tabloid race-baiting.

“The Monarchy is not fit for purpose. It should go.”

The full interview will air on ITV at 9 pm on Monday, March 8.
