Adele impersonators are panicking as the singer has lost seven stone due to dieting, which means her lookalikes could be left jobless and in desperate need to shed the pounds in order to regain the resemblance.
Earlier this month, the 32-year-old star shocked her fans when she revealed her incredibly slim frame. However, not everyone was delighted with the news as it means impersonators could now be out of a job.
At the beginning of this week, Jax, Natalie and Maria spoke to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on the This Morning daytime show, as the latter two admitted that they hoped they could lose as much weight as Adele and follow in her success.
However, Jax insisted that she was “happy” to stay as her current size and although she’s been impressed by Adele’s discipline, she is concerned fans will expect her to lose as much weight.
Jax has previously tried to emulate the star as much as possible. She’s spent months perfecting the British singer’s performance style, voice and “all her mannerisms”.
The impersonator expressed her heartache at all the effort she had gone to could now be wasted.
She said: “Firstly, she looks absolutely incredible, a lot of discipline went in.
“[But] when I saw it, I thought: ‘Is that what people are going to expect now?’
“We haven’t seen her perform slim yet, I don’t know what will be in people’s minds and what they will expect.”
Initially, Jax joked she would “put the doughnut down” after being inspired by Adele’s new look, yet concluded: “I’m happy as I am, I encapsulate a certain period in her career and hopefully that’s what sticks in people’s minds.”
Alternatively, Natalie stated that she had actually had to put the weight ON as she wanted to fit and look like Adele in her costumes that she’d bought for her tribute performances.
She added: “I thought she looked amazing, I’m going to push in that direction.
“The more I look like Adele, I get more work – plus I want to be healthier and a bit smaller because being healthy is important as well.”
Finally, Maria admitted she had been “expecting” Adele to lose this much weight for some time and she’s been trying to monitor the singer’s transformation.
Coincidentally, she has been on the waiting list for a gastric bypass but says this isn’t because of Adele’s slim new frame.
Maria said: “I was relieved as that’s ultimately where I am going to be if the bypass goes well, so I was really excited.”
The trio even speculated that Adele’s new figure could mean that in future performances, there could potentially be dance routines to memorise too.
