Footage of a ‘fearful’ news anchor in Afghanistan reading out headlines on TV while ‘surrounded by the Taliban’ has gone viral.
The Afghan TV network Peace Studio was reportedly stormed by militants, on Sunday, who told the presenter, Pardaz, he must praise the terror organisation.
According to WIO News, he told viewers that they must cooperate with the Taliban.

BBC anchor and correspondent Yalda Hakim shared the clip on Twitter and described what was being said in further detail.
“Afghanistan TV – surreal,” the journalist penned. “This is what political debate now looks like on Afghan TV, Taliban foot soldiers watching the host.”
They added: “The presenter talks about the collapse of the Ghani government and says the Islamic Emirate says the Afghan people should not be afraid.”
After watching the video, Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad responded: “This is surreal. Taliban militants are posing behind this visibly petrified TV host with guns and making him say the people of Afghanistan shouldn’t be scared of the Islamic Emirate.
“Taliban itself is synonymous with fear in the minds of millions. This is just another proof.”
However, some people have suggested that the footage could have been a set-up.
Muhammed Julal, who refers to himself as a peace activist, tweeted: “This is unacceptable. Taliban don’t do interviews. This is a staged interview.
“Ordinary Taliban don’t give interviews. This is an attempt to present the wrong picture.”
Another added: “This is real? Not a parody or a piece of satire by a TV channel?”
