After Life Season 2 Release Date Has Officially Been Confirmed

Ricky Gervais has confirmed the official release for After Life Season 2 and it’s actually not that far away!

The comedian, actor and writer Ricky Gervais has confirmed that it won’t be long until we can watch After Life Season 2 as he has shared with his fans on Twitter: “#AfterLife returns April 24th on @Netflix around the world! Funnier. Sadder. Doggier.”

In case you need an update on what happened in the first season – as it has been a while – then all you need to remember is that Tony (Gervais) is coming to terms with the death of his wife after she died of breast cancer.

Often, the very black comedy sees Tony struggle with suicidal thoughts and eventually, he decides saying and doing whatever the hell he wants is his new “superpower”.

Despite these dark moments, the season was also praised for its heartwarming and tender moments.

The Office creator expressed his shock at the response to the series, revealing: “You suddenly realise everyone is grieving but they don’t usually tell a stranger.

“I wasn’t expecting that. I didn’t think it was the most important thing about the show – for me it was a dramatic device to deliver jokes, drama.”

Back in April last year, After Life was confirmed for a second season but it’s already been confirmed that this is most likely where the story will end.

In discussions of another series, Gervais stated when planning the series he had only intended on having two seasons and perhaps a one-off special.

However, he did add: “Unless I can get some of the cast to help me write the third series and just sit back and just turn up.”

Well, let’s hope that this second season is everything we have anticipated, which might convince Gervais to write a script for a third!
