Santa Fe Sheriff spokesman, Juan Riots, also told AFP: “Mr Baldwin was interviewed by detectives.

“He provided statements and answered their questions. He came in voluntarily and he left the building after he finished his interviews.

“No charges have been filed and no arrests have been made.”

Hutchins had been working as the director of photography on the set of the 19th century western film about an accidental killing.

Details of Souza’s injuries have not been revealed and it’s understood police are still investigating the incident at Bonanza Creek Ranch.

The Santa Fe New Mexican paper published pictures of Baldwin looking distraught, which were reportedly taken on the parking lot of the set after the tragedy.

The paper claims their reporter saw the actor in tears after he had been questioned by investigators.

A spokesperson from the production told The Hollywood Reporter that the whole crew is ‘devastated’.

They said: “The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones.

“We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation.”

In a statement, the International Cinematographer’s Guild called Ms Hutchins’ death ‘devastating news’ and ‘a terrible loss’.

They said: “The details are unclear at this moment, but we are working to learn more, and we support a full investigation into this tragic event.”
