Alec Baldwin has been slammed over an ‘insensitive’ tweet he shared less than a fortnight after the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins.
The actor ‘discharged a prop gun‘ that killed the 42-year-old cinematographer on the set of his upcoming film, Rust.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “Manchin will either primary Biden or switch parties and run as a Republican.”

Manchin is currently a member of the Democratic Party, under President Joe Biden.
Many of his followers were shocked that he was posting about politics so soon as he should be in ‘mourning’.
One person commented: “Alec Baldwin must have gotten [a] huge ratio this morning. A moral person’s conscience would have stopped their tweet about Manchin so soon after killing a mother.”
Another added: “Already tweeting about politics. Maybe take a step back and stay back for a while. Most of us who have deeply mourned don’t take time out to tweet.”
“This should be a mourning time for Halyna. Better give yourself a break from social media. Thoughts and prayers,” said a third.
The actor has over one million followers on the platform but has since made his account private.
He previously posted a statement about the incident on the site, writing: “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother, and deeply admired colleague of ours.
“My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”
