Amber Heard is being trolled over her one-year-old daughter’s ‘unusual’ name as she makes headlines during the Johnny Depp defamation trial

The actress, who welcomed the baby girl last year, called the infant Oonagh Paige Heard, with her first name apparently meaning ‘lamb’.

On Twitter, many people have shared their thoughts on the name, with many branding it ‘weird’.

One tweeted: “This girl will get bullied not only because her mom is Amber Heard, but because her name is OONAGH.”

“Oonagh… Amber Heard named her daughter Oonagh,” a second wrote. “This name makes me think of someone who wears fur and conquers villages. People, please. Name your children reasonably. My first name is right on the border of weird and trouble. Don’t.”

Pitching in, a third said: “Wtf kinda name is Oonagh. Every time I see it I read oonga.”

“How did she come up with the name?” a fourth asked: “Scrabble?”

Others took to the social media platform and defended the Aquaman star and her choice of name.

Backing up the 36-year-old, one said: “So. I’m very clear in my opinion that Amber Heard is trash. But she called her child an Irish name, Oonagh. Cue Twitter losing its mind. It’s foreign. It’s not a weird wacky celebrity name. Make the effort to realise not everyone is called Jane or Michael.”

Another added: “Such a beautiful name for a beautiful baby.”

Heard announced the birth of Oonagh last year.

At the time, she took to social media and told her fans that she welcomed a child ‘on her own terms’.

On Instagram, the actress penned: “Four years ago, I decided I wanted to have a child. I wanted to do it on my own terms.

“I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way. I hope we arrive at a point in which it’s normalised to not want a ring to have a crib.

“A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone’s business. I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this.

“My daughter was born on April 8, 2021. Her name is Oonagh Paige Heard. She’s the beginning of the rest of my life.”
