Amber Heard has admitted that the $7million divorce money from ex-husband Johnny Depp ‘wasn’t donated to charity‘ after her pledge.

The Aquaman star says she didn’t follow through with the claim of splitting the money between the Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles as planned ‘because Johnny sued her for $50m (£40m) in March of 2019’.

However, she has insisted she ‘fully intends to honour’ it.

She said: “I fully intend to honour all of my pledges. I would love for him to stop suing me so I can.”

Earlier on in the trial, the chief operating officer and general counsel of the ACLU, Terence Dougherty, made an appearance at the trial via a pre-recorded deposition in which he claimed Heard didn’t follow through with her pledge.

He alleged: “Ms Heard spoke with such clarity and expertise on issues of gender-based violence, that [ACLU representatives] decided she would be an appropriate person to ask to become an ACLU ambassador.”

Dougherty added that, so far, they’ve received $1.3million from the actress. Clarifying this, he said $350,000 ‘came directly from Heard’ while $100,000 was from Depp.

Plus, the ACLU reportedly received $500,000 from a ‘paid through a donor-advised fund,’ and $350,000 was also paid via a ‘paid through a donor-advised fund’.

Elsewhere in the trial, Heard was asked by her lawyer, Elain Bredehoft, why she accepted the $7m divorce settlement.

In response, she testified: “I didn’t care about the money. I was told if I didn’t agree to a number it could be overturned, [and] we would never settle.

“I took far less than what they were offering and what I was entitled to.”

She went on to add that she was ‘never interested in Johnny’s money,’ claiming: “I just wanted my safety and my future and he compromised that… I wanted him to leave me alone.

“I’ve been saying that since 2016.”
