Amber Heard has claimed that Johnny Depp’s lack of eye contact throughout the defamation trial is because ‘he’s guilty’.

The 36-year-old shared her view on why her ex-husband won’t directly look at her when testifying on May 17.

She alleged: “Because he’s guilty. He knows he’s lying, otherwise, why can’t he look at me? I survived that man and I’m here and I’m able to look at him.”

The claim was made a day after Depp’s lawyer, Camille Vasquez, brought up the same subject when cross-examining the Aquaman star.

The attorney asked Heard: “He won’t look at you, right?”

“He can’t,” the actress simply claimed.

Continuing, Vasquez stated: “You know exactly why Mr Depp won’t look at you. He promised you he would never see your eyes again, is that true?”

In response, Heard testified: “I don’t recall that.”

Following this, an audio recording was played in the courtroom, which is believed to be of a 2016 meeting between the former couple after Heard had already filed for divorce and the restraining order.

Sounding emotional, Heard appears to say in the tape: “Please I just want to hug you and say bye.”

In response, Depp refuses and states: “I am nothing to you, and I will always be nothing to you.

“You will not see my eyes again.”

After the recording finished, Vasquez asked Heard whether Depp had followed through with his vow, to which the actress said: “As far as I know, he cannot look at me.”

Elsewhere in the trial, another recording between the couple was played out, in which a conversation takes place a month after their divorce is filed.

In it, Heard appears to say: “I’m being called a liar and a golddigger.

“I’m not lying about any of this s*** and I’m not after any of your money.”

When it finished airing, Heard testified that she had wanted Depp to stop referring to her as a ‘liar’ and continuing with his alleged ‘smear campaign’ against her.

She claimed: “Just don’t call me a liar. Just don’t say that this isn’t real because I am the walking proof of it.”
