Expert Judi James has reportedly explained to the Daily Mail that the 36-year-old may be doing this in order to ‘humanise’ herself and create an ’emotional bond’ with those on the panel.

She is believed to have told the publication: “The effect would be to ‘humanize’ herself to the jury rather than isolating herself as a celebrity who they will presumably have been hearing negative comments about.”

Reportedly, James went on to claim: “It is quite common for people to address their answers to the jury in the US, but Amber seems to create personal connections and tie-signs quickly here, beginning by smiling in the direction of the judge before turning her head towards the jury to offer her answers to questions from the legal team.

“Her hair is also draped to the left, meaning that the jury has a clear view of her face, both in silhouette and as she turns to address them directly.”

Elsewhere in the trial, Heard has shared her explanation as to why her ex-husband won’t make eye contact with her.

In the courtroom on May 17, the actress alleged: “Because he’s guilty. He knows he’s lying, otherwise, why can’t he look at me? I survived that man and I’m here and I’m able to look at him.”

She made the claim a day after Depp’s attorney, Camille Vasquez, asked her: “He won’t look at you, right?”

At the time, Heard replied: “He can’t.”

Vasquez then stated: “You know exactly why Mr Depp won’t look at you. He promised you he would never see your eyes again, is that true?”

In response, the Aquaman star claimed: “I don’t recall that.”
