The reason Johnny Depp’s legal team appeared to ‘celebrate’ Amber Heard making a comment about Kate Moss has been revealed.
Viewers of the high-profile defamation case were quick to spot the actor’s attorney, Benjamin Chew, making a gesture when the Aquaman star mentioned the British supermodel.
Legal experts have since explained that the name-drop now means that Depp’s team can put the rumour he ‘pushed Moss down the stairs’ – when the pair dated in the 1990s – to bed.

Heard made the comment when testifying against her ex-husband last week.
The actress alleged that a fight took place in March 2015 and that she punched Depp in the face, as she feared he would shove her sister, Whitney, down a staircase.
At the time of making the claim, Heard said she ‘instantly’ thought of Moss.
Typically, mention of alleged misconduct that isn’t related to a specific allegation isn’t allowed to be brought up in court by lawyers.
However, experts have reportedly told the New York Post that Heard’s name-drop could now mean that Moss can be called as a witness.

California entertainment lawyer Mitra Ahouraian reportedly told the publication: “[Moss] is still allegedly friends with Johnny and her testimony wasn’t allowed to come in before because it wasn’t as relevant.”
Criminal defence attorney and former California judge, Halim Dhanidina, is believed to have also chatted to the outlet and has agreed that Depp’s team could use it to their advantage.
She said they could say: “‘You brought up Kate Moss and she wasn’t going to be part of this trial but now she is’.”
But Dhanidina went on to add that Heard’s team could respond by arguing that the Moss comment summed up Heard’s ‘state of mind’ when she apparently hit her ex-husband.
