Amy Schumer is facing a backlash over jokes she made at the Oscars, including the reference to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock over a comment about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

The comedian made the remarks soon after Smith stormed onto the stage and told Rock to ‘keep his wife’s name out of his f***ing mouth’.

She said: “I’ve been getting out of that Spider-Man costume. Did I miss anything?

“There’s like, a different vibe in here.”

Disgruntled viewers took to social media and blasted the 40-year-old for her ‘ill-timed’ gag.

One wrote: “Y’all mad at Will when the real enemy is AMY SCHUMER!”

A second added: “I can’t believe Amy Schumer saw everything that just happened and thought ‘And for my next joke, I’m going to make fun of another man’s wife’.”

Elsewhere in the show, Schumer went over to actress Kirsten Dunst and branded her a ‘seat filler’.

She then went on to say: “Leonardo DiCaprio is doing so much for the planet. He will leave it in a better shape for his girlfriends.”

Commenting on this, a third viewer fumed: “Please never invite Amy Schumer to an award show again.

“Why is she calling Kirsten Dunst a seat filler in front of her husband? Oh, she needs a SMACK.”

Schumer had previously revealed that she had been given tips for the gig by ‘The Rock,’ calling him her ‘friend and mentor’.

Appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, she gushed: “He is just such a lovely person.

“I feel so lucky that he’s my friend. He’s just encouraging me really. He’s like ‘You’re Amy f***ing Schumer’.

“‘Don’t forget that. Take your time and do you’. He’s just really encouraging me to be myself.”
