Amy Schumer was forced to change her son’s name after realising it sounded very rude.
Schumer found fame following her successful Comedy Central sketch series Inside Amy Schumer. She’s since starred in several movies, including Trainwreck, I Feel Pretty and Snatched.
The comedian married her husband Chris Fischer in 2018 and shortly after, they welcomed their son.
However, they were forced to change his name after becoming aware of how rude it sounded…

Schumer often opens up to fans about motherhood and how it can be bittersweet.
Recently, she uploaded a photo of her son on a red toy motorcycle alongside a heartfelt caption reading: “Being his mom is heaven on earth and also means a constant feeling of guilt and vulnerability I will never get used to.
“Your heart feels like it’s outside your body and you’re too old to drink the feelings away like you used to. When you were in love and scared. Send help!!!”
This isn’t the only musing Schumer has made about motherhood.
In an interview with People magazine, the Expecting Amy star said she’s ‘crazy’ about her child and loves being a mum.
“But gosh, you know, all the clichés are just true,” she admitted.
And while Schumer can get emotional discussing the joys of being a mum, she also discusses the super adorable moments.
During an appearance on Today, the comedian hilariously revealed that her son calls for taxis!
“He can hail a taxi. You don’t believe me, right? But he can. He only says a couple of words. But that guy, if you need a taxi, he can hail you one,” Schumer said.
Her son then appeared on screen and the star asked him whether he would hail a cab, to which he gleefully smiled and raised his arm high up in the air.

On her podcast, 3 Girls, 1 Keith – which she hosts alongside her friends Bridget Everett, Rachel Feinstein, and Keith Robinson – the Life & Beth star shared how she and her husband didn’t realise her son’s name sounded like a private part, so they had to change it.
The couple had called their son Gene Attell Fischer, his middle name a tribute to the comedian Dave Attell.
Fans pointed out that the combination of their son’s first and middle name sounds very similar to the term used to describe a private area.
Schumer said on the podcast: “Do you guys know that Gene, our baby’s name, is officially changed? It’s now Gene David Fischer.
“It was Gene Attell Fischer, but we realised that we, by accident, named our son ‘g**ital’.”
Claudia O’Doherty – who appeared in Trainwreck with Schumer – was a guest on the podcast and weighed in: “My mum pointed that out to me, actually.
“My mum was like, ‘Amy’s called her son g**ital’, and she was right.”
It seems everything happens for a reason, as Schumer’s son’s new middle name, David, is still the first name of their friend.
It is also the comedian’s father’s middle name – Gordon David Schumer – which is a nice touch.
