Anne Heche’s estate is being sued by the woman whose home was destroyed in the star’s fatal car crash.

Heche was involved in a horrifying high-speed smash on August 5 and had been comatose in a Los Angeles hospital before passing away six days later.

The Six Days, Seven Nights film star was just 53 years old.

Blood tests in the wake of the crash found that Heche – who was the ex-girlfriend of Ellen DeGeneres – had ‘narcotics’ in her system.

Coroners ruled her death was an ‘accident’, citing ‘smoke inhalation and thermal injuries’ along with a ‘sternal fracture due to blunt trauma’.

Now, a lawsuit says that the victim, Lynne Mishele, was inside her LA home with her pets when Heche’s Mini Cooper hurtled into the building before bursting into flames.

The car stopped just short of Mishele, her dogs and her pet tortoise.

It has been reported that it took 59 firefighters and more than an hour to ‘confine and fully extinguish the stubborn flames within the heavily-damaged residence’.

Heche was trapped inside the burning vehicle for the best part of an hour before she was transferred to hospital.

The Emmy-winning film and television actress died without a formal will in place with two sons by different fathers, resulting in confusion over the inheritance.

The value of her estate has also been the subject of much debate since her death.

Her ex-partner and the father of her 13-year-old son Atlas, Big Little Lies actor James Tupper, 57, claims it to be worth $2 million.

Her eldest son, Homer Heche Laffoon, 20, claims it is only worth $400,000.

Laffoon’s claim is allegedly based on her annual salary from royalties and residuals.

He also said that he lived in an apartment with his mother and that she did not own a house.

The lawsuit is believed to be asking for in excess of $2 million, but she may want more depending on how much the damage to her home amounts to.

Mishele’s attorneys are claiming that Heche acted with negligence, in addition to inflicting emotional distress due to negligence and trespassing.

The victim is said to suffer from nightmares about the crash, which she claims have made her scared to walk outside.

As well as this, she says she now has no place to live.

The suit also alleges that Mishele’s home and all of her possessions were destroyed by the fire that stemmed from the crash.

Her attorneys wrote: “Plaintiff has been unable to sleep and is battling acute anxiety and depression.

“She has also been unable to operate her home business because her physical displacement and fragile mental health caused by defendants’ irresponsible behaviour.

“She has received counselling, but remains traumatised by defendants’ actions.”

Mishele’s friends set up a GoFundMe for her in the aftermath of the crash, which has raised over $183,000 to ease the financial hardship inflicted on her.

In a post on the page from early November, Mishele thanked people for their donations.

She also said that she had been diagnosed with ‘treatable’ cancer in September.
