Anonymous, who has previously ‘hacked into Russian TV,’ addressed Boris Johnson and his resignation through Twitter

The hacker group took to the social media platform before the Prime Minister addressed the nation and simply tweeted: “It’s over for Bojo the Clown.”

Since being posted, it’s garnered more than 2,000 likes and hundreds have taken to the comments and shared their thoughts.

In response, one tweeted: “He is currently still in until about October, which is frightening as he could do a huge amount of damage (more than he has already). Although until he appoints some new cabinet UK is effectively being ran be the civil service.”

Another added: “Thank you Anon for being on the side of the people.”

“Finally! now we need a labour government for a while to restore some humanity back into things,” a third commented.

Pitching in, a fourth said: “Yeah, however there will be [the] ‘Next Clown’ in ASAP for year or two…. Blame previous, so and so on…”

Others took to the comments and said they didn’t think Mr Johnson was so bad, with one penning: “Yes, unfortunately at a wrong date, because he did and does a lot for Ukraine.”

In agreement, a second wrote: “Boris was one of the few people who were pushing the other countries to help Ukraine but… cool.”

The PM appeared in a press conference on July 7 and made the announcement official.

He stated: “It is clearly now the will of the parliamentary Conservative Party that there should be a new leader of that party and therefore a new Prime Minister.

“And I’ve agreed with Sir Graham Brady, the chairman of our backbench MPs, that the process of choosing that new leader should begin now and the timetable will be announced next week.

“And I’ve today appointed a Cabinet to serve, as I will, until a new leader is in place.”

He continued: “I want you to know how sad I am to be giving up the best job in the world, but them’s the breaks.”
