Ant and Dec have warned I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here could go off air again due to extreme weather conditions in Wales, where the show is being filmed.

Bosses were forced to cancel four episodes of the show last week as Strom Arwen meant celebrities had to be evicted from Gwrych Castle amid safety concerns.

Appearing on This Morning, the hosts of the programme, whose full names are Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, expressed their concern.

McPartlin said: “There’s a slight worry as I think there’s more bad weather next week.

“But I think it’s just temperatures dropping and a bit of snow, a bit of frost… I think we could cope with that.”

Banging the kitchen table, and crossing his fingers, he then said: “Touch wood, touch wood.”

Donnelly added: “We’d never get this in Australia.

“Let’s not speak too soon but let’s hope we’re back on now through to the end.”

“It’s been a challenge but the team have been fantastic. We’re back on air tonight and we can’t wait to get going again.”

The cancellation was the first in the programme’s 19-year history.

This year’s series has been rocked by several other disasters, including Richard Madeley’s untimely exit after he was rushed to hospital, and an intruder managing to get on to the set.

The news comes amid calls from fans to scrap the programme until filming in Australia can resume.

Over on Twitter, one person said: “Watching this makes you realise how p**s poor it is now, just scrap it till it can be done in Australia again.”

Another added: “Slight backfire for ITV with the legends #imaceleb programme just highlighting how much better it was [in] Australia.
