Asda Has Launched Sid The Sausage Dog Cake To Compete Against Colin The Caterpillar

Asda has decided to take on M&S’s Colin the Caterpillar cake by unveiling a yummy looking Sid the Sausage Dog cake which the store is confident will be a “popular pooch”.

For celebrations and parties, it has been a long going tradition that people have the staple Colin the Caterpillar cake. However, it looks like this may be about to change as Asda has decided to launch their own sponge roll cake.

Measuring in at a foot and a half, Asda’s Sid the Sausage Dog cake should be able to feed up to 24 people and like M&S’s classic cake, is a chocolate sponge roll filled with chocolate buttercream and a delicious coating of even more milk chocolate. Unlike its rival, Sid comes wearing a lathering of edible chocolate flakes and white stripes.

Asda’s product development manager for cakes, Becky Price, has stated: “We know our customers love a novelty cake that injects plenty of fun into special celebrations at an affordable price.

“We’ve seen a rising demand from our customers for sausage dog-themed products, so Sid is a great addition to our celebration cake range and is sure to become one popular pooch.”

Available to purchase online and in Asda’s stores, the Sid the Sausage Dog cake will be able to buy for the bargain price of £12 from 13 July.

Meanwhile, Heinz has launched a controversial new ice cream kit which allows you to make ketchup, mayonnaise, BBQ sauce and salad cream-flavoured ice creams! The kit has been designed to inspire you to broaden your tastebuds and make the wackiest flavours from the comfort of your own home.
