Bambi is the latest classic children’s tale to be reinvented into a horror-style film.
A recent trend has emerged in which popular stories for young kids are being turned into slasher movies.
Next year, Winnie The Pooh: Bloody And Honey will be dropping in cinemas, and it will reimagine the loveable character as a serial killer.
While the Grinch is getting a Christmas slasher reinvention too with the upcoming The Mean One.
Now it seems Bambi, which is one of the most heartwarming and innocent stories told, is also getting a creepy makeover.

Bambi: The Reckoning will be a tale of the young deer seeking revenge on the hunters who killed its mother.
The film is being produced by ITN Studios and Jagged Edge Production and will be a reimagining of the 1923 novel told by Felix Salten – ‘Bambi, A Life in the Woods’.
Scott Jeffrey will direct the film and has that said the upcoming movie is a much darker take on the beloved 1942 Disney classic.
The filmmaker said (via the New York Post): “The film will be an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love.”
Jeffrey continued: “Finding inspiration from the design used in Netflix’s The Ritual, Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness.
“Prepare for Bambi on rabies!”
The Ritual is a horror movie that debuted on Netflix in 2017, that is about a group of friends that go hiking in Sweden.
However, they are stalked and tormented by a disfigured, deer-like creature.
At the time of writing, there is little plot detail available about the Bambi horror film.
There is also no trailer, however, Jeffrey has assured fans that it will definitely be gruesome.
Production for the film is expected to be in late January and so far, no release date has been set.
After hearing news of the Bambi horror film, people have taken to Twitter and shared their thoughts.
One tweeted: “Oh hell yeah, we’re getting a sort of franchise out of Disney-based horror movies now? Sign me up.”
Another joked: “We’re getting a cinematic universe, can’t wait to see the team up.”
While a third commented: “I’m fully on board for these.”
A number of popular Disney characters are being given a terror reinvention due to rights entering the public domain.
According to copyright laws, assets are protected for 95 years.
This means that Bambi and its characters, similar to Winnie the Pooh, entered the public domain in 2022.
We could be due many more too, as Mickey Mouse is expected to be entering the public domain in 2024.
