I’m a Celebrity’s Boy George has been branded a ‘monster’ by the man he once assaulted and chained to a wall.

The ‘Karma Chameleon’ singer, 61, whose real name gobsmacked fans, is reportedly receiving a massive fee to appear on the 22nd season of the hit ITV show.

Some reports suggest he is now the highest-paid star ever in the show’s history.

But not everyone is happy about his appearance in the jungle.

Boy George was arrested back in 2009 after he was found guilty of leaving a male model ‘shocked, degraded and traumatised’ after attacking him.

Audun Carlsen visited the singer’s East London flat in 2007 over a potential modelling gig after they met on a dating app.

When recalling the incident, he explained to The Mirror: “They jumped on me, kicked, dragged me along the floor.

“He handcuffed me to the wall and told the man to go, saying he’d deal with me from now on.

“The guy was there for 20 minutes. I was hooked to the wall for about half an hour. I was s*** scared.”

Now that the singer has risen to prominence again, Carlsen has revealed his anger that a ‘monster’ will be getting such a lucrative paycheck.

It’s been reported the singer is set to earn between £500,000 and £800,000 for his appearance.

He said: “Had I been a woman and he did what he did, he would never have been given the platform. It’s hurtful that big organisations like ITV give him that platform.”

Carlsen went on to say that being on the platform gives the ‘wrong message to survivors of violence and abuse’.

In 2009, Boy George was convicted of assault and false imprisonment. He was jailed for 15 months.

The judge of the trial stated: “Whilst I accept that Mr Carlsen’s physical injuries were not serious or permanent, in my view there can be no doubt that your premeditated, callous and humiliating hand-cuffing and detention of Mr Carlsen shocked, degraded and traumatised.”

In 2017, Boy George appeared on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, where he opened up about what he did.

The ‘Do You Really Want To Hurt Me’ singer told the ex-Good Morning Britain host: “I sent myself to prison.

“I told the police why I did what I did. I was having a psychotic episode.

“I was a drug addict so I can’t say my reasons for doing it were founded in any way. But I told the truth. I have always denied beating the guy.”

While Boy George may have addressed the incident publicly, Carlsen still has not accepted his apology.

In the interview with The Mirror, he said the apology ‘has to come from a truthful place’.

A spokesperson for ITV has also addressed the controversy and has defended its choice to include the singer in this year’s series of I’m a Celebrity.

“This is a historic, spent conviction and George has appeared on major TV networks globally on numerous occasions since over the last decade,” a representative stated.

While a spokesman for Boy George has also addressed it, claiming that the musician ‘willingly’ went to jail and has ‘been a pillar to society’ ever since.
