BrewDog has opened the ‘biggest bar in Britain,’ and social media users have been quick to lock horns over it.

The Scottish brewery has moved into a huge new location in Waterloo, London, and many are saying it looks more like an airport than a bar.

A spokesperson for the brewery said of the new bar: “We’re opening our biggest ever UK site in Waterloo Station on Thursday 18th August 2022.

“Spread over two floors, this 27,500 square foot location is going to be one of our biggest ever sites.

“Opening as part of the refurbished Waterloo Station, this is set to be a centrepiece of one of the busiest stations in the country.

“This is going to be an immersive hub of good times and great beer forming a centrepiece of the rejuvenated Waterloo Station in London.

“We’re packing in tonnes of features into this flagship location – from a cocktail hideaway to podcast studios.”

BrewDog fans however seem less than impressed, with one person writing: “Striking new contender for the title ‘Britain’s worst pub’.”

A second wrote: “I love BrewDog beer. I quite like BrewDog pubs. I would not go in there if you paid me.”

Another said: “When I thought I couldn’t hate BrewDog any more than I do, they’ve gone and put this [podcast studio] in their new ‘bar’ I’m in bits here.”

“BrewDog is Wetherspoons for people who think they’re too good for Wetherspoons,” added a fourth.

A fifth added: “Can’t think of many places I’d rather go less than a 30,000 sq ft BrewDog.”

Some also disputed the claim in BrewDog owner James Watt’s post that it was ‘Britain’s biggest pub’.

Brewhemia in Edinburgh replied: “Numbers a bit wonky there James – might be the biggest BrewDog but we’ve a capacity of 1852 and by any maths, that’s bigger than yours! You could say we’re the big dog…”
