On the most special day of her life, this bride was surprised with a bouquet like no other, full of chicken nuggets!
A maid of honours duties typically involve organising the hen do, making sure the bride is relaxed and happy in what can be the most stressful time, and apparently sorting out a chicken nugget bouquet – well, that’s pulling out all the stops.
If there’s a competition for Maid of Honour of the Year, then Jenna Spetz from Toledo, Ohio should be a potential candidate.
When Blair Tyson decided to make her cousin, Jenna her maid of honour, she never expected Jenna to go all out and make an edible floral arrangement.
As a reference to Blair’s surname, Jenna decided it would make an amusing little story for the day if she gifted Blair with a chicken nugget bouquet, in reference to Tyson nuggets and Blair’s to be surname.
To pull off the stunt, Jenna decided to get in contact with Tyson (the chicken company) prior to the wedding. If she was going to surprise her cousin with a chicken nugget bouquet, it had to the most fabulous nugget bouquet ever.
However, Jenna was in shock when she not only received a reply back from the Tyson brand but also received a year’s supply of nuggets for the couple – plus a few words of marriage advice. With a year’s supply of nuggets, how could things not run smoothly?
In an interview with Insider, Jenna said: “[Blair] has always LOVED dino nuggets and was marrying a man with the last name Tyson, so it really was a match made in heaven.
“When I was thinking about my speech, I was trying to come up with something I could surprise Blair with. Nuggets immediately came to mind. I wasn’t sure at what medium though or how I would even pull something like that off.”
Jenna added: “I really didn’t expect my inquiry to go any further than an auto-reply from customer service.
“I went into this thinking, ‘They probably get thousands of emails a day and I’m sure this won’t go anywhere but it’s worth a shot!’ So needless to say, this is all still so mind-blowing.
“Their PR team immediately reached out and wanted to be apart of the surprise! Once they got involved, everything seemed to fall into place. The team went above and beyond my expectations to the point of sending a NUGGET. BOUQUET. I never even thought of that!
“They also had dino-nuggets catered locally and presented them to ALL of the wedding guests so I could do a nugget toast at the end of my speech.”
Not only did Tyson say yes to making the chicken nugget bouquet, but they also took some of the stress off the maid of honour’s shoulder by sorting everything, contacting the florists and making sure it was there on time for the special day.
On the day of the wedding, Jenna decided to keep the bouquet a surprise until the very last minute: “I had my wife bring the nugget bouquet in a box to the reception and prior to our introductions, I hid the box behind the stage.
“Blair’s reaction was priceless! She was grinning from ear to ear and giggling.”
Despite the chicken nugget floral arrangement not exactly fitting the elegance and class of the evening, it appears from the images the bride posted on Instagram that she was delighted with the cheeky surprise – and if she dipped those nuggets in ketchup, she somehow managed to keep her dress spotless.
Although Adam, Blair’s husband, may look less excited by the chicken nugget surprise, he apparently saw the funny side.
At this wedding, there’s no doubt that all the guests fought their very hardest to catch this extra-special nugget bouquet.
