Britain’s Got Talent viewers are convinced that they’ve spotted a ‘clue’ an audition was ‘fake’.

Fans of the ITV show have taken to social media and argued that Nick Edwards’ audition on April 16’s episode of the show was ‘staged’.

In the programme, the dad-of-two was apparently left gobsmacked over in the audience when he saw his daughters, Savannah, 3, and Cali, 4, appear on stage with their nan.

Although Edwards claimed he just thought his family was there to watch the acts, eagle-eyed viewers pointed out that while in the audience, he had a microphone attached to his shirt.

In the scene, he said: “You’re joking. That’s my mum, you’re joking.”

Addressing the audience, his mum said: “Well, Nick doesn’t know anything about it and we’re surprising him because we want him to come and sing because he sings a lovely song for the girls.”

After the show finished, people took to Twitter and shared why they weren’t so convinced this was true.

One tweeted: “Not staged, apparently. But why did he have a microphone already attached when surprised in the audience? Also luckily had his guitar with him. Make it make sense.”

BGT needs to watch this horror recording and work out why the dad already had a microphone on his shirt when surprised,” another wrote. “I’d be more surprised that he wondered where his family had disappeared too, utter rubbish don’t take viewers for fools it’s embarrassing.”

Pitching in, a third said: “There are three rounds to audition to get through to the stage ones. He was sitting in the audience with a microphone on. He hardly looked surprised when he saw them come on, [a] load of crap.”

An ITV spokesperson responded to the accusations that the show is ‘staged’.

They said: “We loved welcoming back our BGT viewers back last night after a year away.

“To report or allude to anything being staged or contrived regarding Nick’s audition would be false and incorrect.

“He was totally unsuspecting. We did this so we could mic him up without him suspecting a thing”.
