Britain’s Got Talent viewers have labelled contestant Tom Ball the ‘male Susan Boyle’ after he wowed the judges with his audition.
The 23-year-old teacher, from West Sussex, sang ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ by Sam Smith, and got four ‘Yes’ votes, meaning he was put through to the next round.
Viewers took to social media afterwards, commenting that the moment reminded them of Boyle’s audition back in 2009.

One said: “Wow Tom Ball on Britain’s Got Talent! So pleased for the guy, a bit of a Susan Boyle moment about it.”
“I think he might be the male Susan Boyle,” added a second.
A third also wrote: “Tom Ball is the new Susan Boyle?”
“I love it when someone goes on Britains Got Talent and they don’t fit the norm and you can see in Simon’s face he’s waiting for it to be bad, then boom smashed it out the park! Well done #TomBall class,” commented a fourth.
Others suggested that Ball should have been given the Golden Buzzer, which would mean he’d go straight through to the semi-final, with one saying: “Tom Ball! WOW!
“What a voice any of his students watching will be going berserk! This is why these shows MUST exist!
“To find ordinary people with ordinary jobs with extraordinary talents like his! A Sam Smith song no less and a bond theme song what a voice my #goldenbuzzer.”
After his performance, the judges were full of praise.
Judge Simon Cowell told him: “There’s a lot of good singers out there, but personality doesn’t shine through. It’s clear you have a good personality and we could see that.”
Amanda Holden added: “That was one of the best singing voices we’ve had in 16 years of the show.”
