Britney Spears has called her conservatorship ‘abuse’ and claimed her father ‘should be in jail’ in her leaked testimony.
It is the first time the 39-year-old has spoken publicly about the alleged mistreatment which she claims has been going on since her father gained legal control of her life and finances after her breakdown in 2008.
Addressing the court in a 23-minute speech, she said: “I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive… I’ve told the whole world [that] I’m okay and I’m happy. It’s a lie.

“I thought just maybe [if] I said that enough, I might become happy because I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatised. You know, ‘fake it till you make it?’
“But now I’m telling you the truth, okay? I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry, it’s insane. And I’m depressed. I cry every day, and the reason I’m telling you this is because I don’t think the state of California can have all this written in the court documents from the time I showed up and do absolutely nothing.”
She added: “My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, including my management… they should be in jail.”
The pop superstar went on to detail the alleged mistreatment, telling the court: “I just want my life back.”
She added: “I’ve done more than enough. I don’t owe these people anything. It’s embarrassing and demoralising what I have been through. I just want my life back. It’s been 13 years.”
A statement from her father was then reportedly read out in which said he was ‘sorry’ to see her ‘in so much pain’.
It read: “He is sorry to see is daughter suffering and in so much pain.
“Mr Spears loves his daughter very much.”
