Caitlyn Jenner has defended Dave Chappelle over a ‘transphobic’ joke that was featured on his Netflix special, The Closer.
The former Olympian, who transitioned in 2015, took to Twitter and claimed people are trying to ‘silence free speech’ after the stand-up comedian faced a backlash for saying he’s on ‘team Turf’ – which is an acronym that stands for a trans-exclusionary radical feminist.
“Dave Chappelle is 100% right,” Jenner tweeted. “This isn’t about the LGBTQ movement. It’s about woke cancel culture run amok, trying to silence free speech.

“We must never yield or bow to those who wish to stop us from speaking our minds.”
The reality TV star’s post has divided her followers, with many taking to the comments to share their thoughts.
One person responded: “So you think a white comedian using racial slurs is also okay? Same difference.”
Another added: “Of course you would co-sign. Dave thinks you represent the LGBTQ community and are the LGBTQ community. Girl bye!”
“100% true. Too many people and people I know included that can’t make certain topics points of discussion, and try and cancel freedom of speech and the freedom to joke,” a third penned.

However, others have dubbed Jenner the ‘voice of reason’.
One Twitter user wrote: “I know the trans community just look at you and be mad as s*** that you speak on their behalf lmao.”
Pitching in, a second tweeted: “Probably the only thing me and Caitlyn agree on.”
“Like, where is the lie?” a third questioned. “All Dave said was that in enforcing their rights, the trans community has embarked on a radical campaign to silence all contrary voices.
“You say what you feel and they cancel you, get creative in taking away your livelihood.”
