Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three children are set to have their ‘names changed’.

According to Cosmopolitan, Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, will lose their Cambridge titles, as will their parents, when Prince Charles takes over as King.

It’s believed Prince William will take on the title of Prince of Wales, which means his children will also take on Wales as their surname.

The publication claims that Kate Middleton will receive the Princess title to match.

When the 40-year-old married his wife, his grandmother, The Queen, gave him the title of Duke of Cambridge.

According to the Daily Express, Prince George and Princess Charlotte use it as their ‘non-Royal’ name in order to ‘fit in’ when it comes to ordinary daily life.

Two years ago, the Princess’ mum, Middleton, let it slip that her seven-year-old daughter also has a nickname.

At the time, the mother-of-three reportedly told a fellow parent in Northern Ireland: “She asked how old Bertie is, and I said he is four and she said, ‘Oh, he’s the same age as Lottie’. She calls her Lottie!”

In 2019, Prince William also mentioned his personal nickname for his daughter at the Royal Chelsea Flower Show.

He said he refers to his little girl as ‘Mignonette,’ which translates as ‘delicate, small and sweet’ in French.

Within the Royal Family, nicknames are commonly used and most recently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle used The Queen’s when naming their baby girl.

At the time of announcing Lilibet’s birth, the Duke and Duke of Sussex said: “On June 4, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili.

“She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe.

“Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
