Cameron Diaz has welcomed a baby boy and her choice of baby name has divided fans.

Diaz, 51, shot to fame in 1994 starring as Tina Carlyle in the hit comedy film The Mask, alongside Jim Carrey.

Her early career as a model led to her starring role in the movie and launched her into stardom. Since its release, the actress has become one of Hollywood’s bombshells and has starred in over 40 films.

Diaz has not been on the big screens since 2014, having settled down with her husband and two children.

She’s entered the next chapter of her life, motherhood – which has led to discussion surrounding her choice of baby name.

In an interview with Yahoo Finance Presents in 2021, Diaz said after giving ‘100 percent’ to her acting career ‘it’s just a different time in my life now.’

She continued: “Now I’m here and this is the most fulfilling thing that I’ve ever done in my life. [To] have a family and be married and have our little nucleus of a family. It’s just completely the best thing.

“I don’t have what it takes to give making a movie what it needs to be made. All of my energy is here.”

But it turns out, fans of Diaz will not have to wait long for her return to the big screen.

The actress is set to star in Netflix’s Back in Action, an action-comedy alongside Jamie Foxx, which is set to be released on November 15 this year.

The movie and Diaz’s return to Hollywood has sparked rumors online, which the star has quickly shut down.

Claims have been made that Diaz didn’t enjoy her experience on set with Foxx and said she would ‘quit acting again.’

She put these rumors to bed on Molly Sims’ Lipstick on the Rim podcast.

The There’s Something About Mary star refuted the online speculation: “I really hate all of the things that were being said about our set at the time. You just want to scream at the top of your lungs, like, ‘What are you talking about?’.

“Jamie is, like, the cheerleader for the entire crew. Everybody loves him. We have so much fun on the set with him, and he’s just a professional on every level.”

She acknowledged the unexpected delays on set but would not comment further, stating: “That’s something that is not my place to speak about,” alluding to Foxx’s weeks-long hospitalization in April 2023.

For now, it’s unclear whether Diaz’s new Netflix film will relaunch her acting career or whether she prefers life out of the Hollywood eye.

Diaz began dating musician Benji Madden, 45, after meeting at an event in 2014. They’ve since tied the knot and welcomed two children.

The Bad Teacher star and her husband announced the birth of their baby girl Raddix Madden on Instagram in 2020.

Four years later, Diaz and her husband have welcomed a baby boy into the world, and his name has surprised fans.

The couple have named their son Cardinal Madden – a name causing a divide online.

One person says: “Cameron Diaz + Benji Madden = CARDINAL Madden. I mean name your kids whatever you want, but that’s terrible.”

“What a silly name to give a child!” another adds.

Somebody else says: “Only in Hollywood.”

Yet it isn’t all negative, some fans love the name Diaz has chosen, with one fan writing: “Love Cardinal!! It’s a beautiful name!”

“Different names are in and I like it!’ agrees another.
