Candace Owens, who has previously slammed ‘they/them’ pronouns, has blasted Minnie Mouse’s ‘progressive’ makeover.

The American author appeared on Jesse Watters Primetime and said the iconic cartoon character’s outfit shouldn’t have been changed, as ‘nobody was offended’.

She explained: “This is why people don’t take these people seriously, they are taking all of these things, that nobody was offended by and feel they have to get rid of them and destroy them.

“Because they are bored, they are absolutely bored, they are trying to destroy [the] fabrics of our society [by] pretending that there’s issues.

“This is so everybody looks over here, look at Minnie Mouse, don’t look at inflation, Jesse. Look at Minnie Mouse, the world is going forward because we have got her in a pantsuit.”

Disneyland Paris confirmed Minnie Mouse’s makeover last week when announcing the celebrations being planned for the theme park’s 30th-anniversary.

It was also revealed that designer Stella McCartney had been involved in the design process.

A post on Instagram read: “Stella McCartney has designed Minnie Mouse’s very first pantsuit, and it’s gorgeous.”

McCartney also commented on the redesign, informing Disney fan club D3: “Minnie has always had a special place in my heart.

“We share the same values. What I love about Minnie is the fact that she embodies happiness, self-expression, authenticity, and that she inspires people of all ages around the world. Plus, she has such great style!”

She continued: “This new take on her signature polka dots makes Minnie Mouse a symbol of progress for a new generation.

“She will wear it in honour of Women’s History Month in March 2022. I can’t wait for you to see this new look at Walt Disney Studios Park!”
