Tiger King star Carole Baskin has been left furious after she was tricked into leaving a video message for Rolf Harris on Cameo – there’s even a notorious namedrop of the infamous Jimmy Saville too.
Carole Baskin, an animal rights activist and star of hit docu-series Tiger King, has been left furious after she was tricked into leaving a paid-for video for the notorious Rolf Harris.
The 59-year-old was tricked into leaving the video message by Australian comedian Tom Armstrong.
In June 2014, artist and television presenter Harris, 90, was sentenced to five years and nine months in prison for 12 indecent assaults on four teenage girls between 1968 and 1986.
After serving nearly three years in prison, he was released in 2017 on a license.
Recently, Carole Baskin has decided to make an account on the video message service site Cameo. This offers celebrities the opportunity to make their fans personalised videos if they pay for the message.
For her latest Cameo video, Carole dressed in her trademark leopard print attire and wrote a floral clown, she also clutched onto a soft tiger toy.
Before reading the message, Carole introduces herself.
She then says: “Hi Rolf Harris, all your kids wanted to get together and tell you that you have really touched them and that they love all that you have done for them.”
The message makes a reference to Jimmy Savile, another television personality who died in 2011. After his death, numerous accusations of sexual abuse were brought forward.
Carole continues in the message: “I hear there’s a lot of great stories about you and your best friend Jimmy Savile. Can’t wait to hear those.”
Before signing off, she continues to wish ‘Rolf’ happy birthday and then blows a kiss at the camera.
Amused by his prank, Tom Armstrong then shared the Cameo video message on his TikTok account.
Before showing the clip, Tom gives a back story to the footage, saying: “Surely I couldn’t get another American celebrity to shout out Australia’s most notorious sexual predator – bonus points if they mention UK’s most notorious sexual predator.”
Outraged by the cruel prank, Carole told Mirror Online: “I am amazed at the lengths (and expense) people will go to in order to trash my reputation.
“Of course, I have never heard of Rolf Harris, and would not have done the Cameo had I known.
“The signature line in my email reads, ‘I ask you to judge me by the enemies I have made – Franklin D. Roosevelt’, and I think that tells you all you need to know about the kind of people who abuse me in their efforts to make others hate me.”
This is not the first time that Tom has managed to convince a celebrity from the US to make a distasteful shout-out.
Previously, he has managed to get 7th Heaven star Beverly Mitchell to give a shout-out to Australian serial killer Ivan Milat.
