‘#BeKind’ is trending on Twitter on the one-year anniversary of Caroline Flack’s tragic death

The phrase began circulating last year when it was confirmed that the Love Island presenter had heartbreakingly taken her own life.

Many have claimed the public and the media have ‘not learned their lesson’ 12 months from the tragedy.

On social media, one wrote: “Exactly a year ago #CarolineFlack took her own life and we were telling each other to #BeKind. But one year on and people still haven’t learned anything as they are mocking and bullying #MeghanMarkle once again even after knowing she had a miscarriage last year.”

Another added: “Not just today but every day #BeKind! Words hurt! Think before you tweet! Is what I’m saying true? Does it need to be said? Is it going to hurt someone’s feelings? You never know what someone is going through.”

Tributes have been pouring in for the presenter, with her ex-boyfriend, Lewis Burton, also writing on Instagram: “I will never forget you.”

Love Island’s official social media page also paid tribute to Flack by sharing a string of glamorous photos of the television presenter.

The caption read: “Remembering Caroline 1979-2020. Always in our hearts.”

Laura Whitmore celebrated the star’s memory with a throwback on Instagram. She also opened up about the loss of Flack on her Radio 5 show.

She said: “It doesn’t get any easier to comprehend.

“And sometimes when you can’t think of the right words to say a song can be more appropriate. It will be a difficult time but I hope for a chance to celebrate her memory.

“This song to those who knew Caroline well is very special. Her family played it at her funeral last year.”
