Caroline Flack’s mum, Christine, claims she ‘can’t watch Laura Whitmore’ on Love Island following her daughter’s tragic death

In an interview with The Sun, the star’s mourning parent said: “I haven’t watched Love Island since she died. Carrie loved that show, she loved the crew, she loved the contestants.”

Reportedly, Flack said that it’s upsetting to see the show’s new presenter, Whitmore, take over her daughter with the ‘same dress’ and ‘same pose’.

“I watched Love Island because Carrie was in it,” she explained. “Now, it’s horrible when the advert comes up and the girl that’s taken her place is all in almost the same dress, in almost the same pose.”

Flack’s mum believes that ITV bosses should have tried to tweak the show and its format after her daughter’s passing.

She said: “I think ITV2 could have done it a little differently. They could have done it out of respect. It’s all very well putting these films on saying, ‘Oh, we love Carrie blah blah blah’. But you know, just have a little bit of respect.”

Caroline Flack originally stepped down from the presenting role over an alleged altercation at her home with her boyfriend of the time, Lewis Burton.

Whitmore took over Flack for the winter edition of the reality show and this year, she fronted the summer version over in Majorca.

Before the season premiered, Whitmore paid tribute to the programme’s former host on Instagram.

Alongside a promo shot, the mum-of-one penned: “I think we’re all ready for some love!

“So excited to watch the new islanders. Hope you enjoy talking about them and following their journey and just a reminder to treat them with love, compassion and respect when they leave the show and go back to real life.”

She added: “Caroline I hope we do you proud. One week to go!”
