Former child star Amanda Bynes has spoken out over claims that former Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider got her pregnant at just 13 years old.

Bynes was the star of The Amanda Show, which aired on Nickelodeon between 1999-2002.

The network is, and always has been, at the forefront when it comes to making children’s television.

Big hitters included Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, iCarly, Sam & Cat, and more, including The Amanda Show.

Despite countless kids dreaming of becoming TV stars in the early 2000s, an investigative documentary later exposed some unsettling realities behind the scenes.

Amanda Bynes’ rise to stardom

Bynes was raised in California and began professionally acting at the age of seven.

She firstly appeared in a number of TV adverts, including Cut and Style Barbie, and Taco Bell.

Amanda later went on to star in the stage productions of Annie and The Sound Of Music, and was scouted by a producer at Nickelodeon after attending a comedy camp in Los Angeles.

Following the interaction, the producers cast her on the sketch comedy series All That, and won a Kids’ Choice Award in 2000.

But it was at the age of 13, Bynes starred in the All That spin-off comedy The Amanda Show from 1999 to 2002.

From there, her career skyrocketed, and she was named one of Teen People’s ’25 Hottest Stars Under 25′ in 2006.

What happened to Amanda?

After retiring from acting in 2010 at the age of 24, she suffered with mental health challenges, including substance abuse and body image.

She previously made accusations of abuse against her father in 2014 via Twitter, but she later retracted these statements, attributing them to her mental health struggles and drug use at the time.

After some legal troubles and challenges, more recently, Bynes announced in April that she launched an account on OFs.

Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV documentary

The Quiet on Set documentary was released in 2024, and exposed the dark side of children’s television during the early 2000s.

The five-part series focused mostly on Dan Schneider, a producer and showrunner at Nickelodeon, but also looked at others who worked on the shows.

While Schneider was accused of underpaying staff and creating a toxic work culture, his colleagues faced more serious accusations, including s**ual abuse.

In the third installment of the series, Drake Bell alleged that he was s**ually abused by former Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck, in 2001.

He was arrested and charged in 2003 for child s**ual abuse, but his victim’s name has never been revealed.

Another s**ual abuser working on the shows was production assistant Jason Michael Handy, who formerly described himself as ‘p***phile.’

In 2004, he was sentenced to six years in prison.

Inappropriate Nickelodeon scenes

In the wake of Quiet on Set, many people looked back at scenes from Nickelodeon shows in a new light.

The shows most questionable are those produced by Schneider.

It’s been alleged that Ariana Grande, who starred in Sam & Cat and Victorious, was one of the most blatantly s**ualized young girls.

In one scene, she was forced to drink water while upside down, in a moment portrayed with s**ual undertones.

In another, she was asked to juice a potato in a very s**ual manner.

One that comes up repeatedly is young girls getting something squirted on their faces.

Dan Schneider breaks silence on Quiet on Set allegations

Following the release of the documentary, the former Nickelodeon producer noted that he owed people a ‘strong apology’ after being accused of s**ism, racism and inappropriate workplace behavior.

In a statement, he said: “Watching over the past two nights was very difficult.

“Me facing my past behaviors, some of which are embarrassing and that I regret, I definitely owe some people a pretty strong apology.”

He added: “I wish I could go back, especially to those earlier years of my career, and bring the growth and the experience that I have now and just do a better job and never, ever feel like it was okay to be an a–hole to anyone, ever.”

In a recent clip uploaded to TikTok, a Bynes fan account alleged that Schneider impregnated the star when she was just 13 years old.

But Bynes has since spoken out, claiming that the serious allegations were completely fabricated.

In a statement to TMZ, she noted that the video was purely ‘lies for click bait.’

In May 2024, Schneider sued the producers of Quiet On Set for defamation – claiming the docuseries falsely portrayed him as a child s** abuser.
